Abstract

1,244,712. Clocks. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 9, 1970 [Feb. 12, 1969], No.6093/70. Heading G3T. A clock driven by a piezo-electric synchronous vibrator through a pawl and a ratchet wheel 1 has a gear wheel 3 on ratchet spindle 2 meshing directly with a gear wheel 4 on seconds spindle 5. The seconds spindle 5 drives a minute spindle 11 through gears 6, 7, an auxiliary spindle 8, and gears 9, 10. An hour spindle 17 is in turn driven by gears 12, 13, a spindle 14, and gears 15, 16. A portion 23 of the auxiliary spindle 8 projects from the clock for setting of the hands, during which the gear 7 and hence the ratchet and motor are unaffected due to the presence of a spring clutch formed by a spindle shoulder 20 and a disc 19 pressed by an adjustable cup-spring 18.
