Claims (66)

1. The method of processing tobacco, which consists in the fact that tobacco for extraction of nitrosamines from it is subjected to treatment with an extracting supercritical fluid.
2. The method according to claim 1, in which the nitrosamines are separated from the extracting supercritical fluid using an appropriate process for removing nitrosamines from it.
3. The method according to claim 2, in which the process of removing nitrosamines is chemisorption.
4. The method according to claim 3, in which an ion exchanger is used in the process of chemisorption.
5. The method according to claim 2, in which the process of removing nitrosamines is an adsorption.
6. The method according to claim 5, in which, in the adsorption process, one or more adsorbents from the group consisting of glass beads, activated carbon, aluminosilicate or zeolites are used as adsorbent.
7. The method according to claim 2, in which the process of removing nitrosamines is a process for treating an extracting liquid with ultraviolet radiation.
8. The method according to claim 2, in which the process of removing nitrosamines is either the process of precipitation of nitrosamines from the extracting liquid, or the process of its processing by enzymes that destroy nitrosamines, or the process of chromatographic separation of nitrosamines from it.
9. The method according to any one of claims 2 to 8, wherein several nitrosamine removal processes are used to remove nitrosamines.
10. The method according to any one of claims 2 to 9, in which, after the nitrosamines removal process, the extracting liquid, the nitrosamines from which are partially or completely removed, is again used for processing tobacco, which allows adding or returning to it the present (s) in such extracting medium (s) extracted from it component (s) other than the nitrosamines.
11. The method according to claim 10, in which the specified (s) extracted (s) component (s) are nicotine and / or aromatic substances.
12. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which supercritical carbon dioxide is used as the supercritical extracting liquid.
13. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which, before treating the tobacco with a supercritical fluid, acid is added to the tobacco or supercritical fluid.
14. The method according to claim 4 or 5 in combination with claim 3, wherein acid is added to the ion exchanger or adsorbent.
15. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 14, in which in addition to the acid or instead of using one or more solvents or alcohols.
16. The method according to clause 15, in which organic acid is used as the acid.
17. The method according to clause 16, in which the acid is an organic acid selected from one or more acids from the group comprising malonic acid, ascorbic acid, succinic acid, glutaric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, mucus acid and citric acid, or use a salt or salts of these acids.
18. The method according to 17, in which citric acid in the form of its salt is used as an organic acid.
19. The method of claim 18, wherein potassium citrate is used as the citric acid salt.
20. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which nitrosamines are extracted from tobacco with supercritical fluid at elevated pressure and temperature.
21. The method according to claim 20, in which when using supercritical carbon dioxide as a supercritical fluid, the treatment is carried out at a pressure of from 100 to 350 bar.
22. The method according to item 21, in which the treatment is carried out at a pressure of from 200 to 300 bar.
23. The method according to item 22, in which the treatment is carried out at a pressure of from 240 to 260 bar.
24. The method according to any one of claims 20-23, wherein the treatment is carried out at a temperature above 35 ° C.
25. The method according to paragraph 24, in which the processing is carried out at a temperature of from 35 to 140 ° C.
26. The method according A.25, in which the processing is carried out at a temperature of from 35 to 90 ° C.
27. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the tobacco when it is processed with an extracting supercritical fluid is placed in a closed chamber or high-pressure container.
28. The method according to any one of paragraphs.20-27, in which the temperature is increased by heat transfer or exposure to electromagnetic radiation.
29. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the nicotine contained therein is not removed from the tobacco during processing of the extracting liquid or only a small amount of nicotine contained therein is removed.
30. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the tobacco is processed at its pH value, which is less than about 6.5.
31. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the tobacco is processed at a pH value of less than about 5.5.
32. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the ratio between the percentage reduction in the content of nitrosamines and the percentage reduction in the content of nicotine is from 1.1: 1 to 18: 1.
33. The method according to p, in which the specified ratio is from 1.3: 1 to 10: 1.
34. The method according to claim 33, wherein said ratio is from 2: 1 to 6: 1.
35. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the specific mass flow rate of supercritical fluid in terms of kilogram of tobacco is from 1 to 55 kg / h.
36. The method according to clause 35, in which the specified specific mass flow rate is from 10 to 40 kg / h
37. The method according to clause 36, in which the specified specific mass flow rate is from 15 to 35 kg / h
38. The method according to clause 37, in which the specified specific mass flow rate is about 30 kg / h
39. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the processed tobacco is chopped tobacco and / or whole leaf tobacco, tobacco dust or reconstituted tobacco.
40. The method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, in which the tobacco is further processed using a process of inactivation of microorganisms.

45. The method according to paragraph 41, in which the process of inactivation of microorganisms consists in the fact that the tobacco is exposed to ionizing radiation, ultraviolet radiation, freeze-drying or exposure to an electron beam.
46. The method according to any one of claims 1-45, wherein the tobacco before, during or after its treatment with a supercritical fluid is further processed using a process for removing nitrites / nitrates from it.
47. The method according to item 46, in which the process of removing nitrites / nitrates from tobacco consists in extraction with a solvent followed by ion exchange to bind nitrites / nitrates.
48. The method according to item 46, in which the process of removing nitrites consists in the oxidation or use of microorganisms.
49. The method according to any one of claims 46-48, wherein the tobacco is treated with ascorbic acid or added to supercritical fluid or chemisorbent.

Installation for the extraction of nitrosamines for implementing the method according to any one of the preceding paragraphs, which is a closed loop containing a first chamber for processing tobacco with a supercritical fluid, a second chamber in which the process of removal of nitrosamines occurs, and a connecting device connecting these chambers as well as having a source of supercritical fluid designed to supply supercritical fluid, a device for pumping fluid designed for pumping Ivanov fluid in a closed circuit, and for removing nitrosamines material which is located in the second chamber.
51. Installation according to item 50, in which the device for pumping liquid is a pump.
52. The apparatus of claim 50, wherein the fluid pumping device is a system whose operation is based on creating a pressure differential.
53. Installation according to any one of paragraphs 50-52, which has several interconnected chambers for treating tobacco with supercritical fluid, and / or several interconnected chambers for the process of removal of nitrosamines.
54. The apparatus of claim 53, wherein the supercritical fluid sequentially passes through all the chambers.
55. Installation for the extraction of nitrosamines for implementing the method according to any one of claims 1-49, which is a closed loop containing a chamber with an inlet and an outlet, which are interconnected by a connecting device, a device for pumping liquid and a means for removing nitrosamines.
56. The apparatus of claim 55, wherein the means for removing nitrosamines is an ion exchanger or adsorbent placed in a container permeable to supercritical fluid located inside the chamber.
57. The closed loop according to claim 56, wherein the connecting device is for pumping extracting supercritical fluid through it using a suitable device for pumping fluid from the chamber outlet to its inlet through the zone of removal of nitrosamines from the extracting liquid

60. Tobacco type Burley or Virginia according to § 59 or 60, in which the content of nitrosamines is reduced by at least 60% compared to the original content.

A mixture based on Virginia tobacco, the initial content of which nicotine is from 0.10 to 2.0%, and the content of nitrosamines is from 0.1 to 1.2 μg / g and in which after processing it by the method according to any one of paragraphs .1-49 the ratio between the percentage reduction in the content of nitrosamines and the percentage reduction in the content of nicotine is from 1: 1 to 10: 1.
64. The mixture of claim 62 or 63, wherein said ratio is preferably 5: 1 or more.
65. The mixture of claim 62 or 63, wherein said ratio is preferably 8: 1 or more.
