Abstract
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører en fremgangsmåte til innaktivering av rester etter forbrenning av industri- eller husholdningsavfall, eller av metallhydroksidslam, hvilken ved stabilisering gjør det mulig på lang sikt å immobilisere de giftige metaller som rommes i dette avfall. Fremgangsmåten omfatter nærmere bestemt etappen med oppvarming av en blanding som omfatter det avfall som skal behandles og et eller flere agenser for kjernedanning som nærmere bestemt inneholder jemforbindelser. Oppvarmingen gjennomføres under slike betingelser at den muliggjør oppnåelsen av en blanding i en veskefase som videre kalles smelteblanding eller "melt", hvori minst 5% av oksydene Fe2O3 omdannes til FeO. Fremgangsmåten omfatter likeledes den styrte avkjøling av denne "melt" helt til oppnåelsen av et fast materiale hvori de tungmetaller som rommes i det avfall som behandles er inkludert inne i krystallstrukturene, og oppsamling av det faste materialet som oppnåes. Oppvarmingsetappen kan omfatte en fase med stabilisering av blandingen ved en temperatur som tillater fullstendig forveskning av den blanding som behandles.
