Abstract
Oppfinnelsen angår fremstilling av mangandioksyd ved hjelp av en kjemisk prosess. Det resulterende mangandioksyd- produkt tar form av partikler karakteri- sert ved filamentligneride fremspring som stikker ut fra partikkelens overflate. Mangandioksyd-partikler med slike overfla- tetrekk kan fremstilles ved å reagere mangansulfat med natriumperoksydisulfat i en vandig lesning. Prosessen kan reguleres for å gi mangandioksyd med høy densitet. Mangandioksydet dannet ved fremgangsmåten kan avsettes direkte på overflaten av elektrolytisk mangandioksyd (EMD). Man- gandioksyd-produktet er spesielt egnet for anvendelse som et aktivt katodemateriale i elektrokjemiske celler.
