Abstract
En firtaktsmotor innbefatter et motorhus med en blokk. (111) og et hode (113), idet blokken innbefatter i det minste en sylinder (114) og et veivhus (112). Et stempel (116) er montert for resiproserende bevegelse i sylinderen, og en veivstang (118) forbinder stempelet med en veivaksel (117) i veivhuset. Veivhuset har en brennstoff-innløpsport (128) og en utløpsport (131), idet en kanal (132) forbinder utløpsporten med en inntakspassasje i hodet. Innløpsporten (128) er tilknyttet et forråd av en forbrennbar blanding innbefattende brennstoff, smøreolje og luft. Når motoren går vil denne blanding gå igjennom veivhuset, kanalen og luftinntakspassasjen til sylinderen. Ventiler (119,120) og tilhørende ventilmekanismer styrer strømmen av blanding til sylinderen og strømmen av avgass fra sylinderen. Oljen i blandingen vil smøre motordelene i veivhuset, ventilene og ventilbetjenings-mekanismene. Kanalen kan fordelaktig innbefatte et plenumkammer eller en spylebeholder som inneholder den nevnte blanding under trykk. Motoren kan ha mer enn en sylinder og et stempel, og kan eksempelvis være en tosylindermotor med stempler som beveger seg synkront for komprimering av mediet i veivhuset.
