Abstract

En fremgangsmåte til destruering av organiske for- bindelser ved fullstendig eller stort sett fullstendig oksidasjon av de organiske forbindelser i nærvær av en karbonkatalysator ved temperaturer på under 400°C er om- talt. Fremgangsmåten omfatter fjerning av organiske for- bindelser i et regenereringstrinn fra adsorpsjonsmidler hvorpå det er adsorbert organiske forbindelser, som på forhånd er blitt fjernet fra forurensede fluidstrømmer i et adsorpsjonstrinn, og destruksjon av de forurensede stoffer i et oksidativt destruksjonstrinn ved at de organiske forbindelser bringes i kontakt med karbon- katalysatoren i nærvær av oksygen. Fremgangsmåten, hvor det anvendes oksidasjonskatalysatorer som eventuelt er ympet med overgangsmetalloksider, særlig anvendelig til fullstendig eller stort sett fullstendig destruering av flyktige organiske kjemikalier fra forurenset grunn- vann.
