Ved visse anvendelser, for eksempel i forbindelse
med vanntette klær, er detønskelig å sammenføye to eller flere kanter av et stoffstykke på en slik måte at det tilveie-bringes en søm som er vanntett. Det er kjent å anordne på den ene eller begge sider av stoffet et høyfrekvensaktivert belegg av polyurethan eller polyvinylklorid (PVC) som gjør stoffet ugjennomtrengelig for vann. Den høyfrekvensaktiverte polyurethan eller PVC kan sveises til liknende polyurethan- eller PVC-belagte stoffer ved anvendelse av et radiofrekvensfelt. Feltet forårsaker indre molkylær aktivitet av belegget som •mykner polyurethan- eller PVC-materialet og setter dette i stand til å sammenføyes med polyurethan- eller PVC-belegget på et annet belagt stoff. Polyurethan- eller PVC-beleggene flyter sammen for å danne en vannugjennomtrengelig forsegling.
Det er for eksempel kjent å feste til hverandre to stoffstykker som er belagt med et høyfrekvensaktivert materiale slik at det befinner seg på utsiden av stoffet, men dette har visse ulemper, for eksempel det blanke utseende av stoffet og dets tendens til slitasje, hvilket kan ødelegge stoffets vanntette egenskaper.
Oppfinnelsen tilveiebringer en fremgangsmåte ved fremstilling av en søm for sammenføyning av to kanter av et stoff, idet hver kant har en side som er belagt med et høyfrekvens-aktivert materiale, hvilken fremgangsmåte er kjennetegnet ved at de to kanter anbringes sammen med de to belagte sider vendende utover, at en bindestrimmel anbringes over de nevnte, belagte sider, idet den side av bindestrimmelen som er i kontakt med de belagte sider, selv er belagt med et høyfrekensaktivert materiale, og at et radiofrekvensfelt anvendes på sømmen for å sveise sammen de tilstøtende, belagte sider av bindestrimmelen og stoffet.
De kanter som skal sammenføyes, kan være kantene av samme stoffstykke eller de kan være kanter av to stoffstykker. Kantene kan syes sammen før bindestrimmelen anbringes over dem, og bindestrimmelen kan syes over kantene i en separat operasjon eller hele sømmen kan syes i en eneste operasjon. Sying av sømmen bør ikke utføres etter sveiseoperasjonen, da sying perforerer sømmen og gjør den gjennomtrengelig for vann.
Oppfinnelsen tilveiebringer også en søm som sammen-føyer to kanter av stoff, idet hver kant har en side som er belagt med et høyfrekvensaktivert materiale, hvilken søm er kjennetegnet ved at den omfatter en bindestrimmel som har den ene side belagt' med et høyf rekvensaktivert materiale, idet sømmen er dannet ved at de nevnte to stoffkanter er anbragt med de belagte sider i kontakt med den belagte side av for-bindelsesstrimmelen, og at de tilstøtende, belagte sider er sammensveiset ved anvendelse av et radiofrekvensfelt.
Oppfinnelsen er særlig anvendelig ved fremstilling av klesplagg som skal være vanntette, for eksempel anorakker, kitler og bukser, som for eksempel benyttes av camping- og fotturister, seilsportentusiaster og industripersonell og annet utendørs personell. Med fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen kan sømmer dannes på innsiden av klesplagget og belegget vil også befinne seg på innsiden av klesplagget, slik at man lar det bedre utseende av det ubelagte stoff være uberørt på klesplaggets utside.
Stoffet kan være et tekstilstoff, for eksempel vevet av nylongarn. Uttrykket "høyfrekvensaktivert materiale" slik det benyttes her, betyr et materiale som vil bli mykt og kan sveises når det utsettes for et radiofrekvensfelt, idet de mest vanlig benyttede eksempler ér visse typer av polyurethan eller polyvinylklorid. En typisk benyttet radiofrekvens er 27 MHz.
Oppfinnelsen omfatter også en artikkel dannet av stoff og som har en søm ifølge oppfinnelsen eller fremstilt ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen.
Oppfinnelsen skal beskrives nærmere i det følgende under henvisning til den skjematiske tegning, der fig. 1 i forstørret målestokk viser to stoffkanter og en bindestrimmel som er anordnet sammen for å sammenføyes i overensstemmelse med en utførelse av oppfinnelsen, og fig. 2 viser den ferdige søm dannet ved de på fig. 1 viste • kanter.
To kanter 1 av ett eller flere stykker av nylonstoff har et belegg 2 av polyvinylklorid på den ene overflate eller side. En bindestrimmel 3 av nylonstoff er også belagt med polyvinylklorid på den ene side 4. Kantene .1 anbringes sammen med sine ubelagte sider i innbyrdes kontakt. Bindestrimmelen 3 anbringes over kantene 1 med sin belagte side 4 i kontakt med de belagte sider 2 av kantene 1, og kantene og bindestrimmelen syes sammen på konvensjonell måte. Stoffstykkene er ved dette tidspunkt tilstrekkelig festet til hverandre, men vann kan trenge gjennom sømmen, særlig gjennom stinghullene.
Sømmen blir deretter utsatt for anvendelse av et radiofrekvensfelt ved hjelp av en' konvensjonell, høyfrekvens-sveisemaskin, for eksempel av den type som benyttes for svei-sing av plastmaterialer. Feltet forårsaker molekylær aktivitet av beleggene 2 og 4, idet disse oppmykes eller bløtgjøres slik at de smelter sammen, og det kan ledsages av anvendelse av trykk for å sikre at det dannes en god sveis mellom beleggene.
Fig. 2 viser den ferdige søm som, ved bruk, vil være rettet mot innsiden av et klesplagg. Stikningen 5 dannes ved hjelp av en vilkårlig passende anordning, for eksempel en konvensjonell symaskin. Beleggene på kantene har smeltet sammen med belegget på bindestrimmelen, slik at det over en del av bredden av sømmen er dannet et eneste polyvinylkloridsjikt 6 av de to beleggsjikt 2 og 4. Dersom vann skulle sive langs stoffet i retning av den viste pil A, kan det således ikke trenge gjennom klesplagget.
Claims (11)
1. Søm for sammenføyning av to kanter av et stoff, idet hver kant har en side som er belagt med et høyfrekvensaktivert materiale, karakterisert ved at den omfatter en bindestrimmel som har den ene side belagt med et høyfrekvens-
aktivert materiale, idet sømmen er dannet ved at de nevnte to stoffkanter er anbragt med de belagte sider i kontakt med den belagte side av bindestrimmelen, og at de tilstøtende,-belagte sider er sammensveiset ved anvendelse av et radiof rekvensf elt..
2. ' Søm ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at de nevnte to kanter er kanter av samme stoffstykke.
3. Søm ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at de nevnte to kanter er kanter av to stoffstykker.
4. Søm ifølge krav 1, 2 eller 3, karakterisert ved at de to kanter er sammensydd, idet syingen er dekket av bindestrimmelen.
5. Søm ifølge et av kravene 1-4, karakterisert ved at bindestrimmelen er fastsyddtil de tp kanter før 'sveisingen av de nevnte belagte sider.
6. Artikkel dannet av stoff, karakterisert ved at den omfatter en søm ifølge et av kravene 1-5.
7. Fremgangsmåte ved fremstilling av en søm ifølge krav
1, hvor sømmen forbinder to kanter av et stoff, idet hver kant har en side som er belagt med et høyfrekvensaktivert materiale, karakterisert ved at de to kanter anbringes sammen med de to belagte sider vendende utover, at en bindestrirsiel anbringes over de.nevnte belagte sider, idet den side av bindestrimmelen som er i kontakt med de belagte sider, selv er belagt med et høyfrekvensaktivert materiale, og at et radiofrekvensfelt anvendes på sømmen for å sveise sammen de" tilstøtende, belagte sider av bindestrimmelen og stoffet.
