Abstract
Det omtales en fremgangsmåte til gjennomføring av en reaksjon som kjennetegnes ved at karbondioksid kombineres med en alkalisk løsning basert på ammoniakk, for dannelse av ammonium-bikarbonater, hvilke bikarbonater ytterligere omsettes med en saltholdig løsning, hvorved det dannes produkter av alkalimetallbikarbonat og ammoniumklorid, og ammoniumkloridproduktet behandles videre under en dekomponering for å danne ammoniakk og saltsyre, og ammoniumkloridet returneres til det første trinnet for å danne nevnte alkaliske løsning med vann, mens alkalimetallbikrabonatet eventuelt videre dekomponeres til karbondioksid som returneres til fremgangsmåtens første trinn. Ifølge et annet aspekt, anvendes oppfinnelsen for behandling av saltvann (brine) som stammer fra et avsaltingsanlegg, for fjerning av karbondioksid fra forbrenningsgasser, så som relatert til kraftverk eller andre industrielle aktiviteter. Fortrinnsvis anvendes fremgangsmåten for fjerning av karbondioksid fra forbrenningsgasser og for avsalting av vann.
