Abstract

En faredetektor har en elektronisk krets med oppstartsprogram for å bevirke utsendelse av et lokalt indikatorsignal, slik som et blinkende signal fra en lysdiode (LED), når detektorens effektklemme og jordingsklemme er koblet med riktig orientering, dvs. polaritet, til en effektforsynings effektlinje og jordingslinje. Ved hjelp av dette kan en person som installerer faredetektoren umiddelbart etter tilkobling se om detektoren er blitt koblet med riktig orientering. Derved unngås behovet for å innføre en fare, slik som varme eller røk, for å undersøke om detektoren virker. En variant bruker et mer sofistikert program som under en utprøvingsmodus deaktiverer komplekse filtreringsalgoritmer som brukes av detektoren for å blokkere falske alarmsignaler når sådan filtrering ikke er deaktivert, og hindrer normal utprøving av detektorer.
