Abstract
Det tilveiebringes termoplastiske polymerskum med lydisolerende egen- skaper som er tilfredsstillende for krevende anvendelser, og som har mekanisk styrke, som er økonomiske å fremstille, og som er hydrolytisk stabile. Metoder for fremstilling av disse skummene tilveiebringes også. Skummene er anvendbare i lydhåndtering, dempende innpakning, filtrering og fluidabsorpsjon, og oppviseren eller flere av følgende egenskaper: 1) gjennomsnittlig cellestørrelse på mer enn ca. 2 mm; 2) struktur som har hovedsakelig åpne celler og 3) relativt store porer som forbinder cellene. For at skummet skal være akustisk aktivt bør skummet ha en struktur som hovedsakelig har åpne celler og en relativt lav luftstrømningsmot- stand. Skum med struktur som i hovedsak har åpne celler og relativt lav luftstrøm- ningsmotstand fremstilles ved mekanisk åpning av et skum med en gjennomsnitt- lig cellestørrelse på over ca. 2 mm. l de fleste tilfellene fører slik mekanisk åpning til relativt store porer som forbinder cellene.
