Description

Kobling for bøyelige slanger. Coupling for flexible hoses.

The present invention relates to a coupling for flexible hoses, of the kind that includes an inner elastic hose and an outer spiral wrap, where the hose is provided with an outer and an inner sleeve that terminates the hose and of which sleeves one (or both) is provided with a shock flange for a coupling sleeve, by means of which the hose is connected to a piece of pipe (on a spreader, hand shower e. 1.). The invention is essentially characterized by the fact that the coupling sleeve, which is arranged so that it can be pushed outside the support flange and placed axially against it, has an inner, insertable flange or perforated disc for support for sealing spacers or a sealing ring both at the end surface of one (or both) of the above-mentioned sleeves as at the end surface of the pipe, at least one of which sealing rings is adapted to enable the pipe to rotate about its center axis in relation to the hose. This rotatability between the connected parts is an improvement of the present coupling type, especially when it is used for service lines, in that it facilitates the processing of a nozzle, a hand shower or other service part. The hose is thereby exposed to less stress than before. It is not uncommon for the elastic hose in the connections used up until now to be subjected to such stress during repeated twisting that it breaks after a short period of use.

The attached drawing shows fig. 1 in approximately full size, an axial section through an older known coupling, while fig. 2 in axial section and on a larger scale shows a coupling made as an example of how the known coupling can be improved by making, as stated above, the part which is connected to the hose rotatable in relation to the hose. Known parts in both figures have the same reference number.

1 en ring, 1 denotes a rubber hose, 2 the spiral wrap, 3 the outer sleeve, 4 the inner sleeve, between which the elastic hose and the spiral wrap are inserted. 5 is denoted in fig. 1 a ring,

som gjør tjeneste som koblingsmuffe. which serves as a coupling sleeve.

This is internally threaded so that it can be brought into threaded engagement with the piece of pipe that is to be connected to the hose. The pipe piece, denoted by 6, is indicated in fig. 1 with dash-dotted lines. At its left end, the coupling sleeve has a flange 7 directed inward towards the center, which is intended to be fitted against a shock flange 8 on the inner sleeve 4.

In the following, the improved coupling, shown in fig. 2. The outer sleeve 3 and the inner sleeve 4 are as with the known one, in fig. 1 shown coupling, connected by means of threads at 4a, and between both sleeves the elastic hose and the spiral wrap 2 are fixed in. The coupling sleeve is designated by 5a. Its end flange 7 comes into contact with a shock flange 8 directed outwards from the center on the inner sleeve 4. In the coupling sleeve 5a is a shock flange in the form of a through-holed disk denoted by 10, which plays an important role for the sealing of the coupling and the twistability, which is characteristic of the link. The disc is threaded into the sleeve, which as usual has threads for the touching part, on which the sleeve is to be placed and which belongs to the pipe piece or the tableware part 6a. On each side of the disc 10 are sealing inserts in the form of ring-shaped gaskets, 11, 12, one on each side of the disc 10. When assembling the coupling, the outer sleeve 3 is screwed onto the spiral winding, the inner sleeve 4 is pushed into the sleeve 5a first and then into the hose 1 , whereby insertion is facilitated by the sleeve narrowing conically in the direction of insertion. The sleeve 4 is screwed into the sleeve 3 as far as the flange 8 allows, as the screwing together of the sleeves and the spiral winding is made easier by the fact that the sleeves are threaded and the spiral winding is wound in separate directions otherwise as with the connection in fig. 1. The ring 11 is then inserted and the hole disc 10 is screwed in until it is stopped by a shoulder 13 in the coupling sleeve. Then the ring 12 is inserted and the pipe piece 6a is screwed into the sleeve 5a and brought into contact with the ring 12. The thickness of the ring 11 is adapted in advance to the space between the flange 8 and the disk 10, so that the required seal is achieved, at the same time that the coupling sleeve 5a and part 6a gets the desired twistability relative to the hose. The shoulder 13, the space between the ring 11 and its thickness therefore play an important role in the combined sealing and twistability. The shoulder 13 clearly determines the smallest axial dimension of the inter-cavity. However, it is not impossible to get the desired seal and twistability without the abutment. 13, i.e. only by suitably screwing in the washer 10. That. it is possible that there is a certain danger of this being changed when, by turning the sleeve 5a or the pipe piece 6a, the sealing ring 12 is to be fitted, but such an embodiment is nevertheless possible. within the framework of the invention. It goes without saying that the perforated disc 10 and the packing rings 11, 12 are adapted so that they do not cause any narrowing of the passage of the coupling. Ordinary, more or less elastic and heat-resistant material can be used for the packing rings 11, 12. They can be flat, as the drawing shows, or have a round cross-section. The hose can of course be fixed in the coupling in a different way than the drawing shows, as the twistable coupling is what is essential to the invention. The sleeve 5a can be knurled on the peripheral surface or designed as a nut.
