Description
Fremgangsmåte til sikring av flyteevnen for fartøyer.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår en : fremgangsmåte til sikring av flyteevnen for fartøyer av enhver art og oppfinnelsen er særlig egnet for livbåter og liknende. For at en livbåt som er laget av metall, for-trinnsvis aluminium, ikke skal synke når den fylles med vann, kreves det i henhold til forskjellige bestemmelser at livbåten skal være forsynt med flytetanker.
Disse flytetanker kan dannes av sepa-rate tanker som selvfølgelig er tette og som plaseres i hensiktsmessig hulrom i livbåten, men de kan også dannes av vanntette skott, men i begge tilfelle vil det være fare for at skottene eller flytetankene kan beskadiges ved låring av en livbåt under vanskelige forhold.
For at flytetanker ombord i fartøyer
skulle kunne bibeholde sin flyteevne selv om de skades av en eller annen grunn er det tidligere foreslått å fylle flytetanken med en luftsekk av elastisk materiale. Hvis en spiss gjenstand da gjennomboret far-tøyets skrog slik at spissen stakk inn i en flytetank var meningen at den elastiske luftsekk skulle gi etter uten å briste. En slik anordning er beskrevet i tysk patent nr. 145 306, men den har ikke fått noen særlig utbredelse, sannsynligvis på grunn av at hele flytetanken allikevel ble satt ut av funksjon hvis sekken skulle briste.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse tar sikte på å oppheve et hvert faremoment som måtte oppstå hvis et fartøy, f. eks. en livbåt skades slik at lekkasje oppstår.
I henhold til oppfinnelsen er faremo-mentene søkt opphevet ved at fartøyets flytetanker og eventuelle andre ellers ikke utnyttede hulrom fylles med et eller annet hensiktsmessig ekspanderbart kunststoff som deretter ekspanderes i de nevnte hulrom som derved danner form for kunst-stoffet.
Det ekspanderte materiale vil da fullstendig fylle flytetankene og hulrommene og selv ved store skader av skroget vil det ekspanderte materiale som inneholder et meget stort antall lukkede luftrom sitte på plass fordi det slutter tett rundt alle ujevnheter som naglehoder, spantekanter og liknende.
Oppfinnelsen angår således en fremgangsmåte til sikring av flyteevnen for far-tøyer, og den er i det vesentlige kjenneteg-net ved at flytetanker og eventuelle andre hulrom benyttes som form for et egnet kunststoff som plaseres i hulrommene og ekspanderes i disse til et fast legeme med lav spesifikk vekt og av samme form som hulrommene i den hensikt at disse må bli fullstendig fylt med det ekspanderte materiale.
Tegningen viser som tilfeldig valgt ek-sempel et skjematisk snitt gjennom en del av en livbåt der alle detaljer som ikke er nødvendige for forståelse av oppfinnelsen er utelatt.
På tegningen er båtens skrog betegnet med 1 og skroget kan være av vanlig form og av vanlig materiale som f. eks. aluminium. I henhold til oppfinnelsen er hulrom i båten fylt med ekspandert kunststoff 2, som er ekspandert med hulrommene som for og i hensikt helt å fylle disse og fester seg til ujevnheter som nevnt tidligere, slik at kunstoffet kan holde seg på plass. Med dette utstyr vil det ha liten betydning om påkjenninger av en eller annen art på-fører livbåten skade i form av lekkasjer eller sprekkdannelser, idet det ekspanderte, materiale 2 inneholder et stort antall avi lukkede luftrom som under alle omsten-' digheter vil beholde sin oppdriftsevne, selv om kanskje mindre partier av det ekspanderte materiale skades.
Det ekspanderte materiale kan selv-; følgelig plaseres i et hvilket som helst ellers ikke utnyttet rom som viser seg å være hensiktsmessig og oppfinnelsen er videre ikke begrenset til livbåter alene, men kan finne anvendelse også ved andre typer fartøyer som større skip, seilbåter, motor-snekker og liknende.

- Fremgangsmåte til sikring av flyteevnen for fartøyer, karakterisert ved at flytetanker og eventuelle andre hulrom benyttes som form for egnet kunststoff som plaseres i hulrommene og ekspanderes i disse til et fast legeme med lav spesifikk vekt og av samme form som hulrommene i den hensikt at disse må bli fullstendig fylt med det ekspanderte materiale.
