Abstract

The shape of a body section is determined by an optical method thus eliminating problems of making measurement by contact. Luminous radiation is used to illuminate the body section with a grid pattern and the reflected image is quantified opto-electronically. Radiation from a laser source is enlarged by a telescope for application to an inferometer. The object for measurement is located in the inferometer output for illumination by incident grid lines from two opposing directions. An optical detector system comprises a rotating mirror reflecting light from the surface fo the object through a converging lens and optical slit onto a photodetector. A second detector system is located opposite the first and their outputs are processed electronically.
