Abstract

The pump is particularly for handling emulsified fermenting commodities, having openings in the impeller hub disc and blades on the rear side of the latter. The openings (2) are situated in the disc (1) near the suction side of the blades, starting at the beginning of each blade, their diameter diminishing continuously from this point to the blade end, while the interval between them increases in the same direction. The cross-section of the impeller passage (4) in the direction of flow is less than that used for handling clean fluid. The blades on the rear side of the disc can be centrifugal in action, some of them at least starting closer to the spindle than the openings, while all of them end at a greater radius than the main blades. Gas discharge passages lead from points closer to the spindle than the first openings.
