Abstract

La presente invencion se relaciona con un procedimiento de polimerizacion a alta temperatura novedoso que opera a presiones elevadas para producir un polimero. El procedimiento incluye transportar mezcla de reactor hibridas, las cuales incluyen uno o mas monomeros de reactor hibridos y uno o mas iniciadores de reactor hibridos a uno o mas reactores hibridos. Los reactores hibridos se mantienen a temperaturas de polimerizacion hibridas eficaces y presiones calibradas de polimerizacion inferiores a la de reflujo para provocar la polimerizacion de una porcion de los monomeros del reactor hibrido en el polimero. El procedimiento incluye ademas transportar los contenidos del reactor hibrido de los reactores hibridos a uno o mas reactores de lotes mantenidos a temperaturas de polimerizacion de lote y presiones de polimerizacion de reflujo eficaces para provocar la polimerizacion de una porcion remanente de los monomeros de reactor hibridos en el polimero. Los reactores hibridos son de volumen mas pequeno que los reactores de lotes. Mediante la utilizacion de la combinacion de reactor hibrido/de lote, el procedimiento de la presente invencion puede ser operado bajo condiciones de trabajo seguras. El procedimiento de la presente invencion tambien permite el control de la polidispersividad y peso molecular de los polimeros resultantes. Como un resultado, los polimeros elaborados a partir del mismo se pueden utilizar como aglutinantes en composiciones tales como composiciones de recubrimiento utilizadas en el redeterminado de automoviles y en aplicaciones OEM que tienen propiedades de recubrimiento deseadas. La presente invencion tambien se relaciona con un sistema de polimerizacion utilizado en el procedimiento de la presente invencion.
