Abstract

De acuerdo con la presente invencion, se proveen metodos para producir acidos carboxilicos ?-sustituidos, enantiomericamente puros, tales como por ejemplo ?- aminoacidos y acidos a-hidroxi, dicho metodo comprendiendo combinar un aldehido o cetona con un cianuro y una sal amoniaco o amonio o una amina, en presencia de una nitrilasa o un polipeptido que tiene actividad nitrilasa que hidroliza estereo-selectivamente el intermediario amino nitrilo o cianohidrina bajo condiciones suficientes para producir el acido carboxilico.
