Abstract

La presente invencion describe composiciones de solventes de pureza elevada constituida de n-parafinas e isoparafinas, las isoparafinas con un contenido principalmente de ramificaciones metilo, y con una relacion de isoparafina:n-parafina suficiente para proporcionar propiedades superiores a temperatura baja y viscosidades bajas. Las composiciones de solventes se elaboran mediante un proceso en donde una corriente de alimentacion parafínica de cadena larga o cerosa, especialmente una cera Fischer-Tropsch, se hace reaccionar sobre un catalizador doble funcional para producir reacciones de hidroisomerizacion e hidrocraking a niveles de conversion a 700 degree F+ en el rango desde aproximadamente 20 a 90% en peso para proporcionar la fraccion cruda de C5-1050 degree F. La fraccion cruda de C5-1050 degree F entonces se destila por destilacion atmosférica para producir una fraccion de punto de ebullicion bajo con un punto de ebullicion en el limite superior entre aproximadamente 650 degree F y 750 degree F (344 y 399 degree C). La fraccion de punto de ebullicion bajo se fracciona y se obtiene a partir de ésta un solvente de rango de ebullicion estrecho; uno que además se puede dividir en grados de solventes de diferentes rangos de ebullicion.
