Abstract
Un proceso y un reactor (10) para hacer reaccionar vapores de tetracloruro de titanio con oxigeno para producir bioxido de titanio, en donde el oxígeno se introduce al reactor en por lo menos dos puntos, una primer unidad (12) de introduccion de gas oxidante y una segunda unidad (26) de introduccion de gas oxidante. La temperatura del oxígeno introducido al reactor en la segunda unidad (26) de introduccion de gas oxidante está por encima, por debajo o a la misma temperatura del oxígeno introducido en la primer unidad (12) de introduccion de gas oxidante. La segunda unidad (26) de introduccion de gas oxidante puede ubicarse antes o después de que se haya introducido todo el tetracloruro de titanio al reactor (10). El tetracloruro de titanio se introduce al reactor (10) a una temperatura relativamente baja, debajo de aproximadamente 427 degree C a través de una primer unidad (20) de introduccion de tetracloruro de titanio. La temperatura de reaccion en el reactor (10) es de por lo menos aproximadamente 700 degree C. Opcionalmente, puede introducirse al reactor (10) una segunda adicion de tetracloruro de titanio a través de una segunda unidad (34) de introduccion de tetracloruro de titanio.
