Abstract
Un dispositivo amortiguador de vibracion, para montar entre dos porciones espaciadas de un vehículo, para absorber fuerzas de carretera ejercidas en el vehículo. Un alojamiento cilíndrico de metal interior forma una cámara de piston interna y se conecta en un extremo con una porcion del vehículo, la porcion exterior de la varilla de un piston se monta deslizablemente dentro de la cámara de piston, se conecta con la otra porcion del vehículo. Un alojamiento exterior circunda una porcion del alojamiento interior y forma un ducto para transferencia de fluido o canal de flujo entre las cámaras de fluido formadas en lados opuestos del piston dentro de la cámara de piston. Se monta un electrodo en el ducto de fluido para aplicar un voltaje a través del ducto, para afectar la viscosidad de un fluido electrorreologico (ER) que ahí circula, para incrementar la fuerza de amortiguado del dispositivo. El electrodo incluye una pluralidad de tiras circunferencialmente espaciadas y acanaladuras intermedias que se extienden longitudinalmente sobre el ducto de fluido. Las porciones de fondo de las acanaladuras tienen un campo eléctrico aplicado menor que las ranuras, proporcionando acanaladuras de purga o trayectorias de fuga para el fluido ER para disminuir la velocidad de cizalla del fluido. El alojamiento interior puede formarse con proyecciones alargadas que se extienden dentro de las acanaladuras del electrodo para proporcionar un campo eléctrico más uniforme sobre el ducto de fluido para controlar la cantidad de fuga a través de las acanaladuras de purga. Una tierra de electrodo secundario puede formarse en las acanaladuras para controlar el campo eléctrico en las acanaladuras para purga.
