La invención presenta celita hidratada, la forma de elaborarla, y procedimientos para purificar el DNA con celita hidratada. La nueva composición es de la fórmula siguiente (I) donde R' es OH, R es SiO2, y R' ' es OH, y unidades repetitivas de la composición que comprende la fórmula (II) en donde R' es independientemente OH o R es SiO2, y R' ' es independientemente OH o OSi-R'.
