Abstract

Se provee un método para la alteración de la síntesis de ácidos grasos y las composiciones correspondientes de triacilgliceroles en las plantas. El tejido de las plantas transformado con un gene desaturado CoA de ácido graso, obtenido de una fuente animal o levaduras, muestra una disminución en los ácidos grasos saturados de 16 y 18 átomos de carbono con el aumento correspondiente en los ácidos grasos monosaturados de 16 y 18 átomos de carbono en las células transformadas, hojas y semillas.
