Abstract
Un proceso (10) para el tratamiento de un material que contiene litio (12), el proceso que comprende los pasos de: (i) Preparar una solución de preceso de material que contiene litio (12); (ii) Hacer pasar la solución de proceso del paso (i) una serie de pasos de remoción de impurezas, uno de los cuales es un paso de aspersión de HCL (58), proporcionado de esta forma un solución de cloruro de litio sustancialmente purificada; y (iii) Hacer pasar la solución de cloruro de litio purificada del paso (ii) as un paso de electrolisis (70) produciendo de esta forma una solución de hidróxido de litio. También se describe un plazo adicional en el cual la solución de hidróxido de litio en el paso (iii) se carbonata al hacer pasar dióxido de carbono comprimido (88) a través de la solución, produciendo de esta forma un precipitado de carbonato de litio.
