Abstract

Una celda electroquímica incluye un electrodo permeable de combustible configurado para dar soporte a un combustible de metal en el mismo y un electrodo de reducción de oxidante separado del electrodo de combustible. Un medio de convección iónica es provisto para conducir iones entre los electrodos de combustible y de reducción oxidante, con el fin de dar soporte a las reacciones electroquímicas en los electrodos de combustible y de reducción de oxidante. El electrodo de carga está configurado para generar burbujas de oxígeno gaseoso que generan un flujo del medio iónicamente conductor. Uno o más deflectores de flujo también son provistos en la celda electroquímica y están configurados para dirigir el flujo del medio iónicamente conductor por lo menos parcialmente a través del electrodo permeable de combustible.
