Abstract
Se describe un proceso para la regeneración de un catalizador de metal alcalino empobrecido en soporte de sílice. El nivel de metal alcalino en el catalizador empobrecido es de como mínimo 0.5 mol% y el soporte de sílice es un xerogel. El proceso comprende los pasos de poner en contacto el catalizador de metal alcalino empobrecido en soporte de sílice con una solución de una sal del metal alcalino en un sistema de solventes que tiene un solvente orgánico polar como componente principal. También se describe un catalizador reimpregnado preparado mediante el proceso de la invención que comprende un soporte de xerogel de sílice y un metal catalítico seleccionado de un metal alcalino en la gama de 0.5-5 mol % en el catalizador, donde el área de superficie del soporte de sílice es <180m2/g. La invención es pertinente a un proceso para preparar un ácido o éster insaturado etilénicamente que comprende poner en contacto un ácido alcanoico o éster de fórmula R1-CH2-COOR3 con formaldehído o una fuente adecuada de formaldehído.
