Abstract
PURPOSE: To regenerate the activity of the catalyst by contacting a solid base catalyst comprising a deactivated cpd. of an alkali metal and an alkaline earth metal and silicon dioxide with an alkali metal hydroxide solution.
CONSTITUTION: When the solid base catalyst comprising an oxide and/or hydroxide of the alkali metal M1, the oxide and/or hydroxide of the alkaline earth metal M2 and silicon dioxide S1 as well as containing these components in a mole ratio of M2/M1=1W1.5 and S1/M1=0.25W5 is deactivated, said catalyst is contacted with a solution obtained by dissolving an alkali metal hydroxide such as lithium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide in a solvent such as a lower alcohol or water. Thereby, the catalyst is regenerated and the function thereof is developed again.
