Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a una cepa de lavadura, caracterizada porque comprende genes exógenos de la vía metabólica de xilosa, en donde el gen exógeno de la vía metabólica de xilosa presente en la cepa de levadura consiste de al menos un copia de un gen exógeno que codifica una xilosa isomerasa, y una copia de un gen exógeno que codifica una xilitol deshidrogenasa, y porque ha experimentado un paso posterior de evolución dirigida que comprende los siguientes pasos sucesivos que consisten en someter dicha cepa de levadura a: (i) una mutagénesis, (ii) un crecimiento en cultivos cíclicos, bajo O2 limitado en un medio que comprende al menos una pentosa, especialmente xilosa, y (iii) una selección por crecimiento aeróbico en medio sólido que contiene glicerol como única fuente de carbono.
