Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para aumentar la producción de metano en un proceso de tratamiento de aguas residuales, caracterizado porque comprende: introducir agua residuales en una unidad de tratamiento biológico para proporcionar agua s residuales que tienen un contenido reducido de nutrientes; separar las aguas residuales que tienen el contenido reducido de nutrientes para proporcionar un efluente y un lodo activado de desecho, poner en contacto al lodo activado de desecho con una cantidad de dióxido de cloro en una zona de tratamiento oxidante durante un período de tiempo suficiente para reducir una concentración de microorganismos en el lodo activado de desecho y proporcionar un lodo activado de desecho tratado con dióxido de cloro que tiene una concentración de COD soluble de 10% de la concentración total de COD del lodo activado de desecho tratado con dióxido de cloro; y digerir anaeróbicamente el lodo activado de desecho tratado con dióxido de cloro corriente debajo de la zona de tratamiento oxidante para proporcionar un lodo activado de desecho digerido y metano.
