Abstract
Un proceso para la preparación de partículas de soporte catalizador de xerogel de sílice que tienen áreas de superficie elevada que involucran el endurecimiento de un hidrogel de sílice a un pH desde 3 hasta 5 y a una temperatura de 45°C o más. El endurecimiento a pH bajo conduce a un gel de sílice que puede convertirse en un xerogel que tiene un volumen de poro de 1.5 cm3/g o más y un área superficial de 600 m2/g o más mediante retiro de líquido de la estructura de poro mediante intercambio por solvente con un solvente líquido que tiene una tensión superficial de 35 mN/m o menos. Las partículas resultantes son útiles para transportar compuestos de metal catalizador, tales como compuestos de cromo, en la estructura de poro a fin de actuar como precursores de catalizador.
