Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método mejorado para extraer cobre de una solución acuosa amoniacal, que se deriva de la lixiviación de escoria de cobre y que contiene cationes de impureza, que comprende poner en contacto a la solución de lixiviar con un solvente orgánico selectivo de cobre para tomar cobre en la fase orgánica y luego separar el cobre del solvente orgánico en una fase acuosa, el solvente orgánico siendo lavado con un ácido diluído antes de la separación, la mejora está caracterizada por que comprende la etapa de reducir la concentración del cobre en el solvente orgánico a menos de un nivel en donde ocurre pobre separación de fase bajo condiciones ácidas, la etapa de reducción siendo realizada antes de que el solvente orgánico haga contacto con el ácido diluído y a una temperatura entre 40° y 60°C., aproximadamente y a una presión substancialmente igual a la atmosférica.
