Abstract
Un método para la deposición de una capa de cromo o de aleación de cromo sobre al menos un sustrato, el método comprende las etapas (a) proporcionar un baño de deposición acuoso con un pH en el intervalo de 4.1 a 6.9, el baño que comprende iones de cromo trivalentes, iones de formiato, y opcionalmente iones de sulfato, (b) proporcionar al menos un sustrato y al menos un ánodo, (c) sumergir el al menos un sustrato en el baño de deposición acuoso y aplicar una corriente eléctrica de manera que la capa de cromo o de aleación de cromo se deposite sobre el sustrato, el sustrato es el cátodo, en donde, si durante o después de la etapa (c) los iones de cromo trivalentes tienen una concentración debajo de una concentración objetivo de iones de cromo trivalentes, entonces (d) agregar formiato de cromo trivalente disuelto al baño de deposición acuoso de manera que los iones de cromo trivalentes estén presentes en una concentración más alta que antes de la etapa (d), con la condición de que se disuelva el formiato de cromo trivalente sólido en un volumen parcial separado tomado del baño de deposición acuoso para obtener dicho formiato de cromo trivalente disuelto para la etapa (d).
