Abstract
Se describen en la presente métodos para monitorear o modular un sistema inmune en un sujeto; tratar, reducir o monitorear inflamación; monitorear presión sanguínea; tratar hipertensión; o administrar o ajustar una terapia para inflamación o hipertensión en un paciente al estimular eléctricamente el nervio esplénico o detectar actividad del nervio esplénico usando un dispositivo médico implantado; también se describen en la presente dispositivos médicos implantables para realizar tales métodos; el dispositivo médico implantado incluye un transductor ultrasónico configurado para recibir ondas ultrasónicas y convertir la energía de las ondas ultrasónicas en una energía eléctrica que alimenta el dispositivo, dos o más electrodos en comunicación eléctrica con el transductor ultrasónico que están configurados para estimular eléctricamente un nervio esplénico o detectar una actividad del nervio esplénico, y opcionalmente un miembro de unión del nervio esplénico.
