Abstract
Se prepara el etilenglicol a partir de una fuente de carbohidratos mediante la reacción de la fuente de carbohidratos con hidrógeno en un procedimiento continuo; en donde el hidrógeno, la fuente de carbohidratos y un diluyente líquido se suministran continuamente en un reactor de tanque agitado continuo en donde un sistema catalizador está presente, cuyo sistema catalizador comprende un compuesto de tungsteno y por lo menos una hidrogenólisis de metal seleccionado de los grupos 8, 9 o 10 de la Tabla Periódica de Elementos, para lograr la reacción entre la fuente de carbohidratos e hidrógeno con etilenglicol; en donde se remueve continuamente una mezcla de productos que comprende etilenglicol y diluyente del reactor de tanque agitado continuo y en donde se agrega continuamente o periódicamente por lo menos un compuesto de tungsteno al reactor de tanque agitado continuo (CSTR).
