Abstract

etileno glicol é preparado a partir de uma fonte de carboidrato por reação da fonte de carboidrato com hidrogênio em um processo contínuo, em que hidrogênio, a fonte de carboidrato e um diluente líquido são continuamente alimentados em um reator de agitação contínuo em que um sistema catalisador está presente, sistema catalisador o qual compreende um composto de tungstênio e pelo menos um metal de hidrogenólise selecionado dos grupos 8, 9 ou 10 da tabela periódica dos elementos, para obter a reação entre a fonte de carboidrato e hidrogênio para etileno glicol; em que continuamente uma mistura de produto que compreende etileno glicol e diluente é removida do reator de agitação contínuo; e em que continuamente ou periodicamente depois pelo menos um composto de tungstênio é adicionada ao reator de agitação contínuo (cstr).
