Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una célula vegetal de tabaco mutante, de origen no natural o transgénica que comprende: (i) un polinucleótido que comprende, que consiste o que consiste esencialmente en una secuencia que codifica una N-desmetilasa de nicotina funcional y que tiene al menos 95% de identidad de secuencia con la SEQ ID NO: 2; (ii) un polipéptido codificado por el polinucleótido que se expone en (i); (iii) un polipéptido que comprende, que consiste o que consiste esencialmente en una secuencia que codifica una N-desmetilasa de nicotina y que tiene al menos 95% de identidad de secuencia con la SEQ ID NO: 3; o (iv) una construcción, vector o vector de expresión que comprende el polinucleótido aislado que se expone en (i), y en donde la expresión o actividad de dicha desmetilasa de nicotina se reduce en comparación con una célula vegetal de tabaco de control en donde la expresión o actividad de dicha desmetilasa de nicotina no se ha reducido.
