Abstract
Un método para hacer un aditivo de nanopartículas de óxido de cerio auto-dispersantes para lubricantes, una composición de lubricante que contiene las nanopartículas y un método para reducir la fricción límite utilizando las nanopartículas. Las nanopartículas se hacen por un proceso mejorado de reaccionar una mezcla de sal de organocerio, ácido graso, y amina en la ausencia substancial de agua y solvente orgánico a una temperatura que se encuentra en el intervalo desde aproximadamente 1500 hasta aproximadamente 250°C, el mejoramiento comprende reaccionar la sal de organocerio, ácido graso y amina en una proporción molar que se encuentra en el intervalo desde aproximadamente 1: 1: 1 hasta aproximadamente 1: 2: 2 en la mezcla de reacción para proporcionar el producto de la reacción que comprende desde aproximadamente 20 hasta aproximadamente 40% en peso de las nanopartículas en un medio substancialmente orgánico.
