Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para preparar 5-etiliden-2-norborneno con alta calidad, caracterizado porque comprende isomerizar el 5-vinil-2-norborneno que contiene 1 parte por millón hasta 0.5 por ciento por peso del 4-vinilciclohexeno en la presencia de cuando menos un catalizador de base sólida seleccionada a partir del grupo que consiste de un catalizador de base sólida el cual se prepara haciendo reaccionar alúmina, un hidróxido de metal alcalino y un metal alcalino dentro de una gama de temperatura de 200 hasta 500 grados C, en una atmósfera de gas inerte y un catalizador de base sólida que se prepara haciendo reaccionar alúmina que contiene agua y un metal alcalino en una cantidad tal que excede el equivalente molar de agua contenida en la alúmina a una temperatura dentro de la gama entre el punto de fusión del metal alcalino y 500 grados C en una atmósfera de gas inerte.
