Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una estructura que tiene propiedades de barrera superiores, caracterizada porque comprende: (a) un substrato polimérico, y (b) un revestimiento vítreo de dióxido de silicio mejorado con al menos un metal seleccionado del grupoo que consiste de antimonio, aluminio, cromo, cobalto, cobre, indio, hierro, plomo, manganeso, estaño, titanio, tungsteno, zinc, y zirconio, el revestimiento y el agente mejorador metálico contenidos en el mismo, están presentes en una cantidad adecuada para proporcionar un valor de transmisión del oxígeno a través de la estructura revestida de cuando menos aproximadamente 5 mL/día-m2-atm.
