Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para revestir de manera protectora una superficie de acero revestido con zinc o revestido con una aleación de zinc, el proceso comprende los pasos de: (A) poner en contacto la superficie predominantemente de zinc con una composición efectiva para activar la superficie predominantemente de zinc para fosfatación durante un período de tiempo efectivo para activación; (B) formar sobre la superficie activada en el paso (A) un revestimiento de conversión de fosfato que consiste predominantemente de fosfato de zinc y que contiene por lo menos 3 por ciento en peso de manganeso; (C) tratar posteriormente el revestimiento de conversión formado en el paso (B), mediante contacto durante un período de tiempo suficiente con una composición de postratamiento; y (D) revestir la superficie de una superficie revestida con conversión postratada formada en el paso (C) con un revestimiento por lo menos de 10 micrómetros de espesor de un material que se selecciona del grupo que consiste de polímeros de poliéster, fluoropolímeros que son predominantemente de poli(fluoruro de vinilideno), polímeros de poliéster siliciados, copolímeros de resinas epoxi y endurecedores para estas resinas y materiales que son predominantemente de poli (cloruro de vinilo) ("PVC").
