Abstract

본 발명은 수평주사제어를 위한 주변회로의 부하를 감소시킬 수 있는 액티브-매트릭스형 칼라액정표시장치를 제공한다. 6개의 개별적인 액티브-매트릭스영역들이 하나의 유리기판상에 배열, 집적되어 있다. 두 개의 수평주사제어회로가 제공되는데, 그중 하나는 세 개의 즉 제1 내지 제3의 액티브영역들의 좌측행에 대한 공통의 수평주사제어를 행하도록 작용하며, 다른 하나는 나머지, 즉 제4 내지 제6의 액티브영역들의 우측행들에 대한 공통의 수평주사제어를 행하도록 작용한다. 이 수평주사제어회로들은 서로 다른 타이밍에서 동작하도록 설계되어 있고, 이에 따라 제1 내지 제3영역들에서 형성되는 RGB상들과 제4 내지 제6영역들에서 형성되는 R′G′B′상들이 투사를 위해 서로 겹쳐지게 될 수 있다. 이러한 구성에 따라 각 수평주사제어회로에 대해 요구되는 수평주사주파수를 액정표시장치에 관련된 표시화면사에 표시할 수 있는 투사상의 수평주사주파수의 1/2로 감소시킬 수 있다.

Claims (13)

  1. 상의 형성을 위한 두 개이상의 액티브-매트릭스영역들과, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 대한 각 수평주사제어를 행하는 제1 및 제2수평주사제어회로들과, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 대한 공통의 수직주사제어를 행하는 수직주사제어회로와, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들과, 상기 제1 및 제2주사제어회로들과 상기 수직주사제어회로를 집적된 상태로 지지하는 기판과, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 형성되는 소정의 상들을 투사하기 위해 겹치게 하는 수단을 구비하는 표시장치에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2수평주사제어회로들은 투사를 위한 상의 수평주사주파수의 1/2에 해당하는 주파수에서 동작하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 수평주사제어회로들의 각각은 서로 다른 타이밍으로 동작하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들의 각각에서 형성된 상들이 광셔터에 의하 투사를 위해 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 투사를 위한 상의 수평으로 인접하는 화소들은 서로 다른 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  5. 기판과, 그 기판상에 형성되고, 상의 형성을 위한 설정된 개수(m)(m은 2 이상의 정수)의 액티브-매트릭스영역들을 포함하는 집적회로, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 대한 각 수평주사제어를 행하는 m개의 수평주사제어회로들, 상기 m개의 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 대한 공통의 수직주사제어를 행하는 수직주사제어회로를 갖는 집적회로와, 상기 m개의 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 형성되는 소정의 상들을 투사하기 위해 겹치게 하는 수단을 구비하는 표시장치에 있어서, 상기 m개의 수평주사제어회로들은 투사를 위한 상의 수평주사주파수의 1/m에 해당하는 선택된 주파수에서 동작하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 수평주사제어회로들의 각각은 서로 다른 타이밍으로 동작하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  7. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들의 각각에서 형성된 상들이 광셔터에 의한 투사를 위해 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  8. 제5항에 있어서, 투사를 위한 상의 수평으로 인접하는 화소들은 서로 다른 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  9. 기판과, 그 기판상에 형성되고, 상의 형성을 위한 두 개이상의 액티브-매트릭스영역들로 구성되는 집적 회로와, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 대한 각 수평주사제어를 행하는 제1 및 제2수평주사제어회로들과, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 대한 공통의 수직주사제어를 행하는 수직주사제어회로 집적회로와, 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 형성되는 소정의 상들을 투사하기 위해 겹치게 하는 수단을 구비하는 표시장치에 있어서, 표시되는 상의 소정 열에서 상기 제1수평주사제어회로를 홀수번째 및 짝수번째 화소중 홀수번째화소에 대한 정보기록을 행하고, 제2수평주사제어회로는 나머지 짝수번째 화소에 대한 정보기록을 행하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  10. 관련된 수평주사제어회로들에 의해 각각 제어되는 다수의 액티브-매트릭스영역들과, 그 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 의해 발생되는 각 상들을 투사시키기 위해 겹치게 하는 수단을 구비하는 표시장치에 있어서, 투사를 위한 상의 수평으로 인접하는 화소들이 서로 다른 액티브매트릭스영역들에 의해 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 수평주사제어회로들과 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들은 하나의 기판상에 집적되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  12. 관련된 수직주사제어회로들에 의해 각각 제어되는 다수의 액티브-매트릭스영역들과, 그 액티브-매트릭스영역들에 의해 발생되는 각 상들을 투사시키기 위해 겹치게 하는 수단을 구비하는 표시장치에 있어서, 투사를 위한 상의 수직으로 인접하는 화소들이 서로 다른 액티브매트릭스영역들에 의해 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 수직주사제어회로들과 상기 액티브-매트릭스영역들은 하나의 기판상에 집적되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
