Abstract

일반식(1), (2) 및 (4)의 화합물로 구성되며, 한계 전압은 낮고 광학 이방성은 적당히 큰 반면, 높은 비저항 값을 보유하는 액정 조성물이 제공되며, 본 조성물을 사용하여 구동 전압이 낮고 전력 소비가 적으며 반응 속도가 빠른 활동성 메트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 소자를 제조할 수 있다.
상기식에서, R1, R2및 R4는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 알킬 그룹이고, A1, A2, A3및 A4는 각각 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌 또는 1,4-페닐렌을 나타내며, Z1, Z3, 및 Z4는 각각 -C2H4- 또는 단일 결합을 나타내고, X1, X4, 및 X5는 각각 H 또는 F이며, n은 0 또는 1이다.

Claims (13)

  1. 제1성분으로서의 다음 일반식(1)로 표시된 화합물 하나 이상; 제2성분으로서 일반식(2)로 표시된 화합물 하나 이상; 및 제3성분으로서 일반식(3), (4) 또는 (5)로 표시된 화합물의 그룹중에서 선택된 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R1, R2, R3, R4및 R5는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 알킬 그룹이고, A1, A2, A3및 A4는 각각 독립적으로 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌 또는 1,4-페닐렌을 나타내며, Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4및 Z5는 각각 독립적으로 -C2H4- 또는 단일 결합을 나타내고, X1은 H, F 또는 C1이며, X2, X3, X4, X5, X5및 X7은 각각 독립적으로 H 또는 F이고, n은 0 또는 1이다.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 액정 조성물중 제1성분의 양이 3 내지 50중량%이고, 제2성분의 양이 3 내지 40중량%이며, 제3성분의 양이 3 내지 90중량%인 액정 조성물.
  3. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 일반식(6) 또는 (7)로 표시된 화합물의 그룹중에서 선택된 화합물 하나 이상을 함유하는 제4성분을 추가로 함유하는 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R6, R7및 R8는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 알킬 그룹이고, X8, R9및 R10는 각각 독립적으로 H 또는 F이며, Z6은 -C2H4- 또는 단일 결합을 나타낸다.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 액정 조성물중 제4성분의 양이 3 내지 50중량%인 액정 조성물.
  5. 제1항 내지 제4항 중의어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반(1)로 표시된, 제1성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식(1a)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R9은 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이고, A5및 A6는 각각 독립적으로 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌 또는 1,4-페닐렌이되, 단 A5가 1,4-페닐렌인 경우, A6은 1,4-페닐렌이며, n은 0 또는 1이다.
  6. 제1항 내지 제5항 중의 어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반식(2)로 표시된, 제2성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식 (2a), (2b) 또는 (2c)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R10및 R11은 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이고, R12는 선형 그룹이며, A7은 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌 또는 1,4-페닐렌이고, n은 0 또는 1이다.
  7. 제1항 내지 제6항 중의 어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반식(3)으로 표시된, 제3성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식(3a)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R13은 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이고, X11은 H 또는 F이며, X11이 H인 경우, Z7은 -C2H4- 또는 단일 결합이고, X11이 F인 경우, Z7은 단일 결합이다.
  8. 제1항 내지 제7항 중의 어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반식(4)로 표시된, 제3성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식(4a), (4b) 또는 (4c)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R14, R15및 R16는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이고, A8은 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌 또는 1,4-페닐렌이며 A9은 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌, 1,4-페닐렌 또는이고, A10은 트란스-1,4-사이클로헥실렌, 1,4-페닐렌,,또는이다.
  9. 제1항 내지 제8항 중의 어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반식(5)로 표시된, 제3성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식(5a)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R17은 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이고, Z8은 -C2H4- 또는 단일 결합이다.
  10. 제3항 내지 제9항 중의 어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반식(6)으로 표시된, 제4성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식(6a)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R18은 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이고, R12은 H 또는 F이다.
  11. 제3항 내지 제10항 중의 어느 한 항에 있어서, 일반식(7)로 표시된, 제4성분을 구성하는 화합물이 일반식(7a) 또는 (7b)의 화합물인 액정 조성물.
    상기식에서, R19, R20, R21, 및 R22는 각각 독립적으로 탄소수 1 내지 10의 선형 알킬 그룹이다.
  12. 제1항 내지 제11항 중의 어느 한 항에 따른 액정 조성물을 사용함을 특징으로 하는 전기광학 디스플레이소자.
  13. 제1항 내지 제11항 중의 어느 한 항에 다른 액정 조성물을 사용함을 특징으로 하는, 액정 조성물의 광학.
