제2도는 양호한 실시예의 컴퓨터시스템내에 선택적 부트 메모리들간의 스위칭을 허용케하는 하드웨어 구조도.

Claims (20)

  1. 시스템이 하드리세트 되었을 때마다 프로그램가능 중앙처리장치(CPU)내에 주어진 동작을 즉시 수행할수 있는 단계를 포함하는 컴퓨터시스템을 동작시키기 위한 방법에 있어서, (1. A) 상기 CPU가 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리로부터 소프트웨어를 실행할 경우, (1. A. i) 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리의 체크섬동작을 수행하되, 만일 체크섬에러가 발생되는 경우, (1. A. i. a) 사용자로 하여금 베이직 시스템 소프트웨어용 데이타소스를 제공토록하며, 그 이후에, (1. A. i. b) 사용자에 의해 제공된 데이타 소스로부터 재기록 가능한 비휘발성부트메모리를 재프로그래밍하는 단계와, (1. A. ii) 예정된 데이타 위치로 부터 적어도 한개의 비트를 판독하되, 만일 상기 비트가 제1상태에 있을 경우, (1. A. ii. a) 사용자로 하여금 베이직시스템 소프트웨어용 데이타 소스를 제공토록하며, 그 이후에, (1. A, ii. b)사용자에 의해 제공된 데이타소스로부터 재기록 가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리를 재프로그래밍하는 단계와, (1. B) 상기 CPU가 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리와 같지않은 제2비휘발성 부트메모리로 부터 소프트웨어를 실행하고 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 메모리가 현재 기록-보호되지 않을 경우, 상기 기록가능한 비휘발성메모리의 내용을 오버 기록하는 단계로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템 동작방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리는 필수적으로 플래쉬 EPROM 으로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템 동작방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리는 필수적으로 전기적으로 소거기능 프로그램 가능-읽기-전용-메모리로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템 동작방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2비휘발성 부트 메모리를 필수적으로 전기적으로 소거되거 되지 않은 프로그램 가능한-읽기-전용-메모리로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 시스템 동작방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트 메모리는 섹터내에 기록-보호되고, 상기 코어 소프트웨어는 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리의 내용부분과 무관하게 기록-보호되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 데이타소스를 플로피 디스크 드라이브인 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 단계(1. B)는 상기 재기록가능한 부트메모리의 내용을 오버기록하는 제2부트메모리의 전체내용을 카피하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 CPU는 마이크로 프로세서인 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 예정된 데이타위치는 밧데리 백업된 정적메모리내에 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작법.
  10. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리는 섹터내에 기록-보호되고, 상기 코어소프트웨어는 상기 코어 소프트웨어를 오버기록하기 위하여 수동변화되어야만하는 하드웨어 전기접속에 의해 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트 메모리내용의 다른부분과 무관하게 기록-보호되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  11. 시스템이 파워업 변환이 있을때마다 마이크로프로세서내의 주어진 동작을 즉시 수행하기 위한 단계를 구비하는 컴퓨터 시스템을 동작시키기위한 방법에 있어서, (11. A) 상기 마이크로프로세서가 재기록가능 비휘발성 부트 메모리로부터 또는, 상기 재기록가능한 부트메모리와 같지는 않지만 이와같은 어드레스상으로 매프될 수 있는 제2비휘발성 부트메모리로부터 부트 소프트웨어를 현재 수행하는지를 확인하는 단계와, (11. B) 상기 마이크로프로세서가 상기 재기록 가능한 부트메모리로 부터 소프트웨어를 수행하는 경우, (11. B. i) 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리의 체크섬동작을 수행되, 만일 체크섬에러가 발생되는 경우, (11. B. i. a) 사용로 하여금 베이직시스템 소프트웨어용 데이타소스를 제공토록하며, 그후 (11. B. i. b) 사용자에 의해 제공된 데이타소스로 부터 재기록 가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리를 재프로그래밍하는 단계와, (11. B. ii) 예정된 데이타위치로부터 적어도 하나의 비트를 판독하되 만일 상기 비트가 제1상태에 있을 경우, (11. B. ii. a) 사용로 하여금, 베이직시스템 소프트웨어요 데이타소스를 제공토록하며, 그후 (11. B. i. b) 사용자에 의해 제공된 데이타소스로 부터 재기록 가능한 부트메모리를 재프로그램한후 사용자로 하여금 시스템을 재부트시키게하는 단계와, (11. B. iii) 그렇지않을 경우 상기 재기록가능한 부트메모리로 부터 파워-온-셀프-테스트를 수행하는 단계와, (11. C) 상기 마이크로프로세서가 상기 제2부트 메모리로 부터 소프트웨어를 수행하는 경우 및 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 메모리가 현재 기록-보호되지 않을 경우, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리의 내용을 오버기록하도록 상기 제2부트메모리의 전체내용을 카피하는 단계와, 그렇치않을 경우 상기 제2부트메모리로 부터 파워-온-셀프-테스트루틴을 수행하는 단계로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트 메모리는 필수적으로 플래쉬 EPROM으로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템 동작방법.
  13. 제1l항에 있어서, 상기 제2비휘발성 부트메모리는 필수적으로 전기적으로 소거되지 않는 프로그램가능-읽기-전용-메모리로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 시스템동작방법.
  14. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리는 섹터내에 기록-보호되고, 상기 코어 소프트웨어는 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리의 다른 내용부분과 무관하게 기록-보호되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  15. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 단계(11. B. iii) 이후에, 예정된 동작시스템 소프트웨어의 실행을 착수하기 위한 추가의 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  16. 컴퓨터시스템을 동작하기 위한 방법에 있어서, (16.A)정상동작동안에, 메모리로부터 프로그램 가능순차내의 지시를 호출할수 있는 적어도 하나의 CPU내의 지시순차를 수행하는 단계와, (16. B) 파워복구 또는 소프트웨어리세트 명령이 발생할시에, 상기 CPU를 리셋팅하는 단계를 포함하는 시스템리세트 동작을 개시하는 단계와, (16. C)상기 CPU를 리세팅하는 단계 이후에 즉시, 상기 CPU에서 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리 내에 저장된 코어소프트웨어 프로그램을 실행하되, 상기 재기록 가능한 부트메모리 내의 데이타 집적도를 테스트하고 사용로하여금 불량 재기록가능 부트 메모리에 대치 데이타를 공급케하는 단계와, (16. D) 상기 CPU가 상기 코어 소프트웨어 프로그램을 성공적으로 실행할 경우, 상기 CPU내에서 파워-온-셀프-테스트 프로그램을 연속적으로 실행하는 단계 및, (16. E) 상기 CPU가 상기 파워-온-셀프-테스트 소프트웨어 프로그램을 성공적으로 실행할 경우, 시스템 소프트웨어를 동작하는 실행을 상기 CPU를 연속적으로 수행하는 단계로 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터 시스템 동작방법.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리는 필수적으로 플레쉬 EPROM으로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  18. 제16항에 있어서, 상기 재기록가능한 비휘발성 부트메모리는 필수적으로 전기적으로 소거가능한 프로그램가능-읽기-전용-메모리로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  19. 제16항에 있어서, 상기 제2비휘발성 부트메모리는 필수적으로 전기적으로 소거되지않은 프로그램가능 읽기-전용-메모리로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
  20. 제16항에 있어서, 상기 CPU은 마이크로프로세서인 것을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터시스템동작방법.
