Description

탄소섬유 제조용 유제
본 발명은 탄소섬유 제조용 유제에 관한 것이며, 더욱 상세하게는 탄소섬유의 제조에 있어서, 내염화(또는 불융화, 이하 내염화라 칭함)공정전에 전구체(前驅體)로서 사용하는 아크릴게 섬유나, 피치계 섬유(이하 이들을 프리커서라 함)에 부여함으로써 이 프리커서에 우수한 분섬성 내지 공정 통과성을 부여함과 동시에, 내염화 공정이후에 있어서의 유착을 방지하여 우수한 물성의 탄소섬유를 제조할 수 있는 유제에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 탄소섬유는 프리커서를 산화성 분위기하에서 200℃내지 300℃로 가열 소성하는 내염화 공정에 의해 내염화 섬유로 만든 후, 불활성 분위기하에서 700℃ 이상의 높은 온도로 탄소화 시키는 탄소와 공정을 거쳐 제조되는 데, 이때 내염화 공정전에, 보통은 프리커서를 제조하는 공정에서 유제를 부여한다. 그리고 이 유제에는 평활성, 대전방지성, 집속성등의 일반적 제기능외에 전술한 바와 같은 탄소섬유의 제조조건에 대응하는 성능상 특히 섬유의 분섬성이 우수하고, 또 융착을 방지하는 기능이 중요하다.
위와 같은 유형의 유제로서 종래에는 일반적으로 포스페이트의 알칼리금속염, 각종 양이온 활성제, 폴리옥시알킬렌 에테르 등이 주로 사용되고 있으나, 이들은 대전방지성, 집속성, 평활성의 점에서는 일응 성능을 가지고 있으나, 그 본래의 성질로 인한 분해에 의해서 분섬성이 나쁜 문제점이 있고, 또 내염화 공정에서 타르를 생성하거나 혹은 가열초기에서 그 대ㄷ부분이 휘산하고 섬유간에 융착이 일어나는 문제점이 있다.
그래서 종래 이와 같은 유제의 개량품으로, 디메틸 폴리실록산, 페닐 메틸 폴리시록산, 에폭시 폴리실록산, 폴리에테르 폴리실록산, 아미노 폴리실록산 등 각종 실리콘계 유제가 제안되고 있다(참조 : 일본국 특공소 51-12739, 특공소 52-24136, 특공소 52-148227 등).
그러나 이들 실리콘계 유제에도 각각 다음과 같은 문제점이 있다. 즉 디메틸 폴리실록산이나 페닐메틸 폴리실록산의 경우 열적으로는 양호하지만 그 분자내에 극성기가 포함되어 있지 않아 프리커서에 대한 배향성(균일 부착성, 이하 같음)이 불충분하기 때문이라고 생각 되는데 프리커서로서의 분섬성 그리고 내염화 공정시 유착 방지기능이 적고, 또 비극성이기 때문에 정전기에 의한 모우가 일어나고, 사절(

切)과 같은 문제를 일으키기 쉽다.
에폭시 폴리실록산의 경우는 그 분자내에폭시 그룹의 개환중합 등에 의하여 섬유-섬유간을 고착시키고, 또 그들 자신이 타르화 하기 때문에 내염화 공정에서의 융착 방지기능이 전혀 없고, 오히려 해가 된다.
폴리에테르 폴리실록산에 있어서는 그 분자내의 에테르 결합이 열적으로 약하기 때문에 내염과 공정에 있어서 대부분이 열분해, 휘산되어 융착 방지기능을 수행할 수 없게 되고, 또 열분해시의 발열이 섬유자체의 이상 반응을 유인 한다.
그리고 아미노 폴리실록산의 경우 이상 설명한 종래의 다른 실리콘계 유제에 바하면 양호한 성능을 지녔으나, 열적으로는 아직 약한면을 가지고 있고, 분섬성 및 융착 방지기능이 아직도 미흡하고, 또 공업적인 생산면에서 볼때 공정중 각종 가이드나 로울러등에의 검업에 의한 모우나 사절등이 발생하는 문제점도 있다.
본 발명은 상술한 바와 같은 종래의 문제점을 해결하는 것으로서 프리커서의 제조 및 내염화 공정을 포함한 그 이후의 공정에 있어서 공정 통과성 및 분섬성이 우수하고 융착등의 장애가 없는 따라서 고품질의 탄소섬유를 안정적으로 제조할 수 있는 유제를 제공하는 것이다. 그리하여 본 발명자들은 이상의 관점에서 예의 연구한 결과 특정한 오르가노 폴리실록산과 아미노-변성 폴리실록산으로 이루어진 유제가 바람직함을 발견하고 본 발명을 완성함에 이르렀다.
즉 본 발명은 다음 일반식(Ⅰ)로 표시되는 오르가노 폴리실록산 및 아미노- 변성폴리실록산으로 이루어진 탄소섬유 제조용 유제에 관한 것이다.

본 발명에 있어서, 일반식(Ⅰ)로 표시되는 오르가노 폴리실록산은 25℃에 있어서의 점도가 5내지 1000센티스토크(이하 점도는 25℃에 있어서의 센티스토크로 표시한다)의 것이다.
점도가 5미만이면 분자량 부곧이 되어 프리커서 제조공정이나 내염화 공정 초기에 그 대부분이 휘산하여 본 발명의 효과를 발휘하지 못한다.
거꾸로 점도가 1000을 초과하면 융착 방지기능이 저하 된다. 바람직한 저도 범위는 10내지 100의 범위이다. 해당되는 디메틸 폴리실록산은 좋은 예이다.
또는, 본 발명에 있어서 아미노-변성 폴리실록산에는 분자내에 아미노-변성기를 갖는 폴리실록산의 전부가 포함되어 동일 분자내에 폴리에테르 변성기나 알코올 변성기등 기타 변성기를 포함하고 있어도 좋으나, 이 아미노- 변성 폴리실록산은 다음 일반식(Ⅱ)로 표시되는 것이 좋다.

일반식(Ⅱ)로 표시되는 아미노-변성 폴리실록산은 분자내에 아미노-변성기 1개당 질소원자 2개를 갖는 것으로 섬유에 대한 배향성이 좋아진 것으로 생각되는데 본 발명의 목적에 적합하여 특히 유효하다.
본 발명에서는 전술한 오르가노 폴리실록산과 아미노-변성 폴리실록산과의 배합비에는 특별한 제한은 없지만, 표과의 발현정도의 점에서 오르가노 폴리실록산/아미노-변성 폴리실록산=10/90~90/10(중량비)가 바람직 하며, 이것이 25/75~90/10(중량비)일때 더욱 바람직하다.
본 발명에 관한 유제는 이상 설명한 오르가노 폴리실록산과 아미노-변성 폴리실록산으로 조성되는데. 이 유제를 사용함에 있어서 본 발명의 효과를 손상시키지 않는 범위내에서 공지의 평활제, 유연제, 대전 방지제, 계면활성제, 산화방지제, 방부제 또는 여기에 종래 제안된 탄소섬유 제조용 유제를 적당히 선정해서 병용할 수도 있다.
그리고 본 발명에 관한 유제는 프리커서 제조공정 또는 이 공정후 내염화 공정전의 단계에서 부여하고, 그 부여 형태는 에멀젼, 유기용제 용액 또는 스트레이트 등 어느것이나 좋고, 그 부여수단은 로울러급유법,스프레이 급유법 또는 가이드 오일링법 등 어느것이나 좋다.
이때 유제 부착랑은 일방으로는 본 발명의 효과를 충분히 발현시키면서 타방으로는 경제성도 포함해서 부착량에 합당한 효과를 발현시키기 위하여 프리커서에 대하여 0.01~5중량%로 하는 것이 바람직 하다.
이상 설명한 바와 같이 본 발명에 관한 유제에 의하면 프리커서의 제조 공정이나 내염화 공정에서의 공정 통과성이 우수하고 특히 프리커서의 분섬성이나 내염화 공정에서의 융착 방지 기능이 우수하여 종래 제안된 예를 들면 오르가노 폴리실록산 단독의 경우에 비하여 탁월한 효과를 나타낸다.
이하 시험예를 들어서 본 발명의 구성 및 효과를 더욱 구체적으로 설명하겠으나 본 발명은 여기에서 들은 실시예에 한정된 것은 아니다.
[시험예]
제1표 및 제2표에 표시된 유제(실시예 1~15, 비교예 1~15)를 배합하여 이 유제 85중량부와 폴리옥시에틸렌 노닐 페닐 에테르 15중량부의 비율로 함유된 수유화액을 조제 하였다.
그리고 아크릴 필라멘트사(16000데니어/12000필라멘트)에 이 수유화액을 각각 부착량 0.5±0.1중량%(물을 제외한 성분 환산, 이하같음)가 되도록 침지법으로 부여한 후, 건열 로울러를 사용하여 115℃×4초간 건조하여 프리커서 토우를 조제하고, 이것을 시료로 하여 그 분섬성을 후술한 방법으로 평가 하였다.
그리고 이 프리커서 토우를 240℃의 강제 순환식 오븐중에서 60분간 처리하여 내염화 섬유를 얻고, 이것을 시료로 하여 그 융착 방지성을 후술한 방법으로 평가했다.
또, 아크릴 필라멘트사(75데니어/40필라멘트)에 전기 수유화액을 각각 부착량 0.5±0.1중량%가 되도록 로울로 급유법으로 부여한 시료사를 조제하여 이 시료사의 마찰계수 및 발생전기를 후술한 방법으로 평가 하였다.
그 결과를 제1표 및 제2표에서 표시 하였다.

‥마찰계수의 평가(표중 "마찰"으로 표시하였음)
시료사를 20℃×65% RH의 분위기하에서 24시간 방치하고 동 조건하에서 초장력 20g, 사속100m/분으로 크롬-도금이지 가공핀과 접촉주행 시켜서 그 마찰계수를 μ-메터(에이꼬 측기사 제)로 측정하여 다음 기준에 따라 평가 하였다.
◎ : 마찰계수 0.25미만. △ : 마찰계수 0.28~0.31미만.
○ : 마찰계수 0.25~0.28미만. × : 마찰계수 0.31이상.
‥발생전기의 평가(표중 "전기"으로 표시하였음)
전기 마찰계수의 측정시 크롬-도금이지 가동핀과의 접촉후의 발생 전기를 집전식 전위 측정기(가스가 덴끼사 제)로 측정하여 다음 기준에 따라 평가 하였다.
○ : 발생전기 100V 미만. × : 발생전기 300V보다 큼.
△ : 발생전기 100V~300

주) 제1표 및 제2표를 통해서,
DMS는 디메틸 폴리실록산, PS는 페닐폴리실록산, PES는 폴리에테르-변성 폴리실록산, ES는 에폭시-변성 폴리실록산, 괄호안의 수치는 점도, 유제의 우열수치는 중량비, AS는 아미노-변성 폴리실록산이며, 다음과 같다.

[다만, AS-A~AS-D에 있어서, a, b, d, e, f는 정수] 제1표 및 제2표의 결과로 보아도 본 발명의 효과는 명백하다.

Claims (5)

  1. 다음 일반식(Ⅰ)로 표시되는 오르가노 폴리실록산과 아미노-변성 폴리실록산으로 이루어진 탄소섬유 제조용 유제 :

    [다만, R1, R2, R3, R5, R6은 메틸기 또는 에틸기 ; R4는 수소, 탄소수 1내지 5인 알킬기 또는 페닐기 ; R7, R8은 메틸기, 에틸기 또는 하이드록실기 ; m, n은 오르가노 폴리실록산의 25℃에 있어서의 점도가 5내지 1000센티스토크로 되는 정수.]
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 일반식(Ⅰ)로 표시되는 오르가노 폴리실록산의 25℃에서의 점도가 10내지 100센티스토크인 탄소섬유 제조용 유제.
  3. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 아미노-변성 폴리실록산이 다음 일반식(Ⅱ)로 표시되는 탄소섬유 제조용 유제 :

    [다만, R9은 수소, 탄소수 1내지 5인 알킬기 또는 페닐기 ; R10, R11, R12, R13은 메틸기 또는 에틸기 ; R14, R15는 메틸기, 에틸기 또는 하이드록실기 ; R16, R17, R18은 수소, 메틸기 또는 에틸기 ; X는 탄소수 3내지 5인 알킬렌기 ; Y는 탄소수 2내지 6인 알킬렌기 ; p, q는 아미노-변성폴리실록산의 25℃에 있어서의 점도가 10내지 10000센티스토크가 되는 정수.
  4. 제1항에 또는 제2항의 어느 하나에 있어서, 일반식(Ⅰ)로 표시되는 오르가노 폴리실록산/아미노-변성 폴리실록산=10/90~90/10(중량비)인 탄소섬유 제조용 유제.
  5. 제3항에 있어서, 일반식(Ⅰ)로 표시되는 오르가노 폴리실록산/아미노-변성 폴리실록산=10/90~90/10(중량비)인 탄소섬유 제조용 유제.
