Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〈産業上の利用分野〉 本発明は炭素繊維製造用油剤に関し、更に詳しくは、炭
素繊維の製造において、耐炎化(又は不融化、以下耐炎
化と総称する)工程前に前駆体として使用するアクリル
系繊維やピッチ系繊維(以下これらをプレカーサーと総
称する)へ付与することによシ、該プレカーサーに優れ
た分繊性乃至工程通過性を与えるとともに耐炎化工程以
降での融着を防止し、よって優れた物性の炭素繊維を製
造することができる油剤に関する。
一般に炭素繊維は、プレカーサーを酸化性雰囲気下に2
00〜300℃で加熱焼成する耐炎化工程によシ耐炎化
繊維とした後、不活性雰囲気下に700℃以上の高温で
炭素化する炭素化工程を経て製造されるが、この際、耐
炎化工程前、通常はプレカーサーを製造する工程で油剤
が付与される。
しかして該油剤には、平滑性、帯電防止性、集束性等の
一般的諸機能の他に、前述の如き炭素繊維の製造条件に
応するその性能上、とシわけ繊維の分繊性に優れ且つ融
着を防止する機能が重要である0 〈従来の技術とその問題点〉 この種の油剤として従来一般には、ホスフェートのアル
カリ金属塩、各種カチオン活性剤、ポリオキシアルキレ
ンエーテル等が主に用いられているが、これらは帯電防
止性、集束性、平滑性の点では一応の性能を有している
ものの、その本来的性質に基づく分解によって分繊性が
劣る問題点があシ、また耐炎化工程でタールを生じた9
、或いは加熱初期にその大部分が揮散し、繊維間に融着
が生じる問題点がある。
そこで従来、かかる油剤の改良品として、ジメチルポリ
シロキサン、フェニルメチルポリシロキサン、エポキシ
ポリシロキサン、ポリエーテルポリシロキサン、アミノ
ポリシロキサン等、各種のシリコーン系油剤が提案され
ている(特公昭51−12739、特公昭52−241
36、特開昭52−148227等)Qところが、これ
らのシリコーン系油剤にも、それぞれに次のような問題
点がある。すなわち、ジメチルポリシロキサンやフェニ
ルメチルポリシロキサンの場合、熱的には良好であるが
、その分子内に極性基を持たないことによりプレカーサ
ーに対する配向性(均一付着性、以下同じ)が不充分で
あるためと考えられるが、プレカーサーの分繊性及び耐
炎化工程での融着防止機能が少なく、また非極性である
ために静電気による毛羽立ちや糸切れ等の問題を起こし
易い。エポキシポリシロキサンの場合、その分子内のエ
ポキシ基の開環重合等により、繊維−繊維間を固着し、
また自身もタール化するため、耐炎化工程での融着防止
機能は全くなく、むしろ弊害になる。ポリエーテルポリ
シロキサンの場合、その分子内のエーテル結合が熱的に
弱く、耐炎化工程においてそのほとんどが熱分解、揮散
し、融着防止機能を果たさなくなシ、またその熱分解の
際の発熱が繊維自体の異常反応を誘引する。そしてアミ
ノポリシロキサンの場合、これは以上説明した従来の他
のシリコーン系油剤に比べれば良好な性能を有するが、
熱的にはなお弱い面を持ち、分繊性及び融着防止機能が
依然として充分でなく、また工業的に生産うえて工程中
の各極ガイドやローラー等へのガムアップによる毛羽や
糸切れ等が発生する問題点もある。
〈発明が解決しようとする問題点〉 本発明は、叙上の如き従来の問題点を解決するもので、
プレカーサーの製造及び耐炎化工程を含むそれ以降の工
程において工程通過性や分繊性に優れ且つ融着等の障害
のない、したがって高品質の炭素繊維を安定製造するこ
とができる油剤を提供するものである。
く問題点を解決するための手段〉 しかして本発明者らは、以上の観点から鋭意研究した結
果、特定のオルガノポリシロキサンとアミン変性ポリシ
ロキサンとから成る油剤が好適であることを見出し、本
発明を完成する釦到った。
すなわち本発明は、次の一般式(I>で示されるオルガ
ノポリシロキサンとアミノ変性ポリシロキサンとから成
る炭素繊維製造用油剤に係る。
R2R4R6 〔但し、R1+ R2+  R3+  R”+ R6は
メチル基又はエチル基。R4は水素、炭素数1〜5のア
ルキル基又はフェニル基。R7,R8はメチル基、エチ
ル基又はヒドロキシル基。m、nはオルガノポリシロキ
サンの25℃における粘度が5〜1000センチストー
クスとなる整数0〕本発明において、一般式(I)で示
されるオルガノポリシロキサンはその25℃における粘
度が5〜1000センチストークス(以下粘度はいずれ
も25℃におけるセンチストークスで表示する)のもの
である。粘度が5未満であると、分子量不足となシ、プ
レカーサー製造工程や耐炎化工程初期にそのほとんどが
揮散し、本発明の効果を発揮しない。逆に粘度が100
0を超えると、融着防止機能が低下する。好5ましくは
、粘度が10〜100のものが良い。該当するジメテル
ボリンロキサンは好適例である。
また本発明において、アミン変性ポリシロキサンには、
分子内にアミン変性基を持つポリシロキサンの全てが含
まれ、同一分子内にポリエーテル変性基やアルコール変
性基等、その他の変性基を含んでいてもよいが、該アミ
ン変性ポリシロキサンは次の一般式(II)で示される
ものが好適である0〔但し R9は水素、炭素数1〜5
のアルキル基又はフェニル基。RIO,R11,R12
,R13はメチル基又はエチル基。R14,R15はメ
チル基、エチル基又はヒドロキシル基。R161R’、
 R18は水素、メチル基又はエチル基oXは炭素数3
〜5のアルキレン基。Yは炭素数2〜6のアルキレン基
。p+CIはアミノ変性ポリシロキサンの25℃におけ
る粘度が10〜1ooo。
センチストークスとなる整数0〕 一般式(I)で示されるアミン変性ポリシロキサ/は、
分子内にアミン変性基1涸当だシ窒素原子を2個含むの
で、繊維に対する配向性が良好になるためと考えられる
が、本発明の目的に適い特に有効である。
本発明では、前述したオルガノポリシロキサンとアミン
変性ポリシロキサンとの配合割合に特に制限はないが、
効果の発現程度の点で、オルガノポリシロキサン/アミ
ノ変性ポリシロキサン= 、10/9Q〜90/10 
 (重量比)が好ましく、これが25/75〜90/1
0  (重量比)であると一層好ましい。
く作用等〉 本発明に係る油剤は、以上説明したオルガノポリシロキ
サンとアミン変性ポリシロキサンとから成るが、該油剤
の使用に際し、本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で、公知
の平滑剤、柔軟剤、帯電防止剤、界面活性剤、酸化防止
剤、防腐剤、更には従来提案の炭素繊維製造用油剤を適
宜に選定して併用することもできる。
そして本発明に係る油剤は、プレカーサー製造工程、又
は該工程後耐炎化工程前の段階で付与し、その付与形態
は、エマルジョン、有機溶剤溶液、又はストレート等い
ずれでもよく、その付与手段は、ローラー給油法、スプ
レー給油法、又はガイドオイリング法等のいずれで−も
よい。この際の油剤付着量は、一方で本発明の効果を充
分に発現させつつ、他方で経済性も含めて付着量に見合
った効果を発現させるため、プレカーサーに対し0.O
1〜5重量係重量るのが好ましい。
〈発明の効果〉 以上説明した通り、本発明に係る油剤によると、プレカ
ーサーの製造工程や耐炎化工程での工程通過性に優れ、
と9わけプレカーサーの分繊性や耐炎化工程での融着防
止機能に優れていて、従来提案の例えばオルガノポリシ
ロキサン単独の場合に比べ、卓越した効果を奏する。
〈実施例〉 以下、試験例を挙げて本発明の構成及び効果をより具体
的にするが、本発明はここに挙げる実施例に限定される
ものではない0 ・試験例 第1表及び第2表に示した油剤(実施例1−15、比較
例1〜15)を配合し、該油剤85重量部トポリオキシ
エチレンノニルフェニルエーテル15重量部の割合で含
有する水乳化液を調整した。
そして、アクリルフィラメント糸(I6000デニール
/12000フイラメント)に該水乳化液をそれぞれ付
着量0.5±0.1重量%(水を除いた成分換算、以下
同じ)となるように浸漬法で付与した後、乾熱ローラー
を用いて115℃×4秒間乾燥してブレカーサ−トウを
調製し、これを試料としてその分繊性を後述の方法で評
価した。
また、該ブレカーサ−トウを240℃の強制循環式オー
ブン中で60分間処理して耐炎化繊維を得、これを試料
としてその融着防止性を後述の方法で評価した。
更に、アクリルフィラメント糸(75デニール/40フ
イラメント)に前記水乳化液をそれぞれ付着量0.5±
0.1重量%となるようにローラー給油法で付与した試
料糸を調製し、該試料糸の摩擦係数及び発生電気を後述
の方法で評価した。
結果は第1表及び第2表に示した。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 次の一般式( I )で示されるオルガノポリシロキ
    サンとアミノ変性ポリシロキサンとから成る炭素繊維製
    造用油剤。 一般式( I ):▲数式、化学式、表等があります▼ 〔但し、R^1、R^2、R^3、R^5、R^6はメ
    チル基又はエチル基。R^4は水素、炭素数1〜5のア
    ルキル基又はフェニル基。R^7、R^8はメチル基、
    エチル基又はヒドロキシル基。m、nはオルガノポリシ
    ロキサンの25℃における粘度が5〜1000センチス
    トークスとなる整数。〕 2 一般式( I )で示されるオルガノポリシロキサン
    の25℃における粘度が10〜100センチストークス
    である特許請求の範囲第1項記載の炭素繊維製造用油剤
    。 3 アミノ変性ポリシロキサンが次の一般式(II)で示
    されるものである特許請求の範囲第1項又は第2項記載
    の炭素繊維製造用油剤。 一般式(II):▲数式、化学式、表等があります▼ 〔但し、R^9は水素、炭素数1〜5のアルキル基又は
    フェニル基。R^1^0、R^1^1、R^1^2、R
    ^1^3はメチル基又はエチル基。R^1^4、R^1
    ^5はメチル基、エチル基又はヒドロキシル基。R^1
    ^6、R^1^7、R^1^8は水素、メチル基又はエ
    チル基。Xは炭素数3〜5のアルキレン基。Yは炭素数
    2〜6のアルキレン基。p、qはアミノ変性ポリシロキ
    サンの25℃における粘度が10〜10000センチス
    トークスとなる整数。〕 4 一般式( I )で示されるオルガノポリシロキサン
    /アミノ変性ポリシロキサン=10/90〜90/10
