Claims (9)

  1. 거리로간격을 유지하고 표면이 서로 마주보고 있는 두평행 지지판과, 선전극은 열전극을 교차하고 크로싱은 화상셀의 매트릭스를 형성하는 방식으로 한 표면상에서 제공된 선전극 패턴 및 다른 표면상에서 제공된 열전극 패턴을 구비하고, 지지판 사이에 콜레스테롤 첨가를 갖는 네마틱 액정층을 갖고, 상기 액정층은 정유전체 비등방성 및 자연피치P를 갖고, d/p비는 0.5와 1 사이의 값을 갖고, 상기 표면은 방위층을 구비하여 π라디안 보다는 크고 2π라디안 보다는 작은 층두께로 d를 가로지르는 액정분자(도파기)의 순차 분자 비틀림 Ø을 제공하고 한 표면의 분자에 0°와 70°사이의 틸트각으로 다른 표면의 분자에 문제의 표면에 대해서 5°와 70° 사이의 틸트각을 제공하고, 전계를 인가하는 장치에서 유효 전계강도 E1이하에서 화상셀은 제1 안정 상태이고, 유효전계강도 E2이상에서 화상셀은 광학적으로 다른 제2 안정상태에 있고 선행한 안정상태에 의하여 E1과 E2사이의 유효전계 EH에서 화상셀은 제1 안정상태나 또는 제2 안정상태에 있게되는 액정 표시 장치에 있어서, d/p비는 0.6과 0.9 사이의 값을 갖고, 도파기의 비틀림 Ø는 1.2 π와 1.7 π사이의 값을 갖고, d/p와 Ø/2π의 값은 서로 많아야 10% 차이가 나고, 제1안정상태와 화상셀에 교차하는 유효전계강도 EH에서 시작하는 액정은 에너지 임계 이상에서 에너지 내용을 갖는 맥동 전계로 인하여 화상셀은 제1안정상테에서 제2안정상태로 변화하고, 상기 에너지 임계 이하에서 에너지 내용을 갖는 맥동 전계로 인하여 화상셀은 일정한 이완주기를 갖는 준안정상태를 거쳐 제1안정상태로 복귀하는 것과 같이 적은 에너지임계를 나타내고, 이러한 상태에서 화상셀이 구동되는 반복주파수는 이완주기의 역수치를 초과하지 않는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시장치.
  2. 제1항에 따른 액정 표시장치에 있어서, d/p비는 0.7과 0.8사이의 값을 갖고 비틀림 Ø는 1.4π와 1.6π 사이의 값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  3. 제1항이나 제2항에 따른 액정 표시 장치에 있어서, 전압 Ve의 선선택 펄스를 갖는 선전극을 연속 및 주기적으로 주사하는 선주사 회로를 구비하고, 제 1 안정상태에서 제2 안정 상태로 스위치 될 수 있는 화상셀을 선택하는 열선택수단을 구비하고, 이 열선택수단은 동시에 주사된 선전극에 연결된 화상셀에서 선택화상셀이 전압 Ve+Vc를 운반하고 비선택 화상셀이 전압 Ve+Vc를 운반하고 반면에 모든 다른셀이 전압 ±Vc를 운반하는 방식으로 ±Vc값의 전압 펄스를 열전극 각각에 공급하고, Ve-Vc값의 전압펄스는 상기 에너지 임계를 초과하는 에너지 내용을 갖고, Ve-Vc값의 전압펄스는 상기 에너지 임계보다 낮은 에너지 내용이 갖고, Ve값의 전압펄스는 유효 전계강도 EH를 나타내며, 표시장치는 또한 새로운 정보를 표시하기전에 화상셀이 제1 안정상태로되는 방식으로 모든 화상셀에 블랭킹 펄스를 공급하는 수단을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시 장치.
  4. 제1항, 2항 또는 3항에 따른 표시장치에 있어서, 이색성 다이는 액정물질에 첨가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  5. 제4항에 따른 표시장치에 있어서, 편파기는 정면지지판에 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시장치.
  6. 제4항 또는 제5항에 따른 표시장치에 있어서, 반사층은 배면지지판의 한 표면상에 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시장치.
  7. 제1,2항 또는 3항에 따른 표시장치에 있어서, 편파기는 정면지지판 상에서 제공되고 반사층은 배면지지판의 한 표면상에서 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시장치.
  8. 제1항, 2항 또는 3항에 따른 표시장치에 있어서, 편파기는 정면지지판 및 배면지지판 상에서 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시장치.
  9. 제8항에 따른 표시장치에 있어서, 반사층은 배면지지층상에서 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시장치.
