- 발광 영역을 갖는 층이 양극과 음극 사이에 형성되어 있는 전계 발광 소자를 바이폴라형 구동 파형을 이용하는 전류 제어에 의해서 구동하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법에 있어서,1 화상 표시 기간 내에서 구동 파형을 상기 소자의 발광에 기여하는 발광 기간에서의 제1 구동 파형부와 비발광 기간에서의 제2 구동 파형부로 분할하는 단계와,상기 발광 기간에는 상기 제1 구동 파형부를 갖는 제1 전류를 공급하고, 상기 비발광 기간에는 상기 제2 구동 파형부를 갖는 제2 전류를 공급하는 단계를 포함하고,상기 발광 기간에 공급되는 상기 제1 전류의 극성을 상기 비발광 기간에 공급되는 상기 제2 전류의 극성과는 다르게 하며,상기 구동 파형은, 상기 발광 기간에서 상기 제1 전류의 절대값과 공급 시간을 곱셈한 적분 강도가, 상기 비발광 기간에서 상기 제1 전류의 극성과 반대의 극성(이하, '역극성'이라 함)을 갖는 상기 제2 전류의 절대값과 공급 시간을 곱셈한 적분 강도와 다르게 되도록, 비대칭 바이폴라형 전류 파형으로 설정되고,상기 비대칭 바이폴라 전류 파형의 상기 제1 및 제2 구동 파형부를 갖는 상기 제1 및 제2 전류가 공급될 때, 상기 발광 기간에서 상기 제1 전류의 공급에 의한 전극간 제1 전압과 공급 시간을 곱셈한 적분 강도가, 상기 비발광 기간에서 상기 제2 전류의 공급에 의한 전극간 제2 전압과 공급 시간을 곱셈한 적분 강도와 균형을 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 발광 기간에 공급되는 상기 제1 전류에 대응하는 상기 제1 전압값을 전압-전류 곡선으로부터 판독하는 단계와,상기 1 화상 표시 기간에 대한 상기 발광 기간의 비율인 듀티비에 따라서 상기 제1 전압에 대하여 역극성을 갖는 상기 제2 전압값을 결정하는 단계와,상기 제2 전압에 대응하고 역극성을 갖는 상기 제2 전류값을 상기 전압-전류 곡선으로부터 판독하는 단계를 더 포함하고,그 값이 상기와 같이 산출된 상기 제2 전류가 상기 비발광 기간에 공급되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 1 화상 표시 기간에 대한 상기 발광 기간의 비율인 듀티비가 30 내지 70%인 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 1 화상 표시 기간이 복수개 세트의 상기 발광 기간과 상기 비발광 기간으로 분할되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,리튬, 나트륨 또는 칼슘 등의 알칼리 금속 또는 알칼리 토금속, 혹은 이들의 염으로 이루어지는 층이 상기 발광 영역을 갖는 층과 접하는 방식으로 상기 음극 측에 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 발광 영역을 갖는 층이 양극과 음극 사이에 형성되어 있는 전계 발광 소자를 바이폴라형 구동 파형을 이용하는 전류 제어에 의해서 구동하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법에 있어서,1 화상 표시 기간 내에서 구동 파형을 상기 소자의 발광에 기여하는 발광 기간에서의 제1 구동 파형부와 비발광 기간에서의 제2 구동 파형부로 분할하는 단계와,상기 발광 기간에는 상기 제1 구동 파형부를 갖는 제1 전압를 인가하고, 상기 비발광 기간에는 상기 제2 구동 파형부를 갖는 제2 전압을 인가하는 단계를 포함하고,상기 발광 기간에 인가되는 상기 제1 전압의 극성을 상기 비발광 기간에 인가되는 상기 제2 전압의 극성과는 다르게 하며,상기 구동 파형은, 상기 발광 기간에서 상기 제1 전압과 인가 시간을 곱셈한 적분 강도가, 상기 비발광 기간에서 상기 제1 전압의 극성과 반대의 극성(이하, '역극성'이라 함)을 갖는 상기 제2 전압과 인가 시간을 곱셈한 적분 강도와 균형을이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 1 화상 표시 기간에 대한 상기 발광 기간의 비율인 듀티비가 30∼70%인 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 1 화상 표시 기간이 복수개 세트의 상기 발광 기간과 상기 비발광 기간으로 분할되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,리튬, 나트륨 또는 칼슘 등의 알칼리 금속 또는 알칼리 토금속, 혹은 이들의 염으로 이루어지는 층이 상기 발광 영역을 갖는 층과 접하는 방식으로 상기 음극 측에 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전계 발광 소자의 구동 방법.
