Abstract
Description
以下、本発明の実施の形態における液晶表示装置について、図1〜図4を参照しながら説明する。先ず、本実施の形態における液晶表示装置の構成について図1及び図2を用いて説明する。図1は、本発明の実施の形態における液晶表示装置の全体構成を示す斜視図である。
Claims (6)
- アクティブマトリクス基板と対向基板とで液晶層を挟み込んで形成した液晶表示パネルと、前記液晶表示パネルを前記アクティブマトリクス基板側から照明するバックライトとを備える液晶表示装置であって、
前記アクティブマトリクス基板は、液晶層側の基板面における表示領域の周辺の領域に、第1の光センサ及び第2の光センサを備え、
前記第1の光センサは、当該液晶表示装置の外部の光と、前記アクティブマトリクス基板の内部を伝搬する光とが入射するように形成され、
前記第2の光センサは、前記アクティブマトリクス基板の内部を伝搬する光が入射するように形成され、且つ、前記外部の光から遮光されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1の光センサと前記第2の光センサとが、前記アクティブマトリクス基板の表示領域の外縁からの距離が互いに同一となるように、前記表示領域の周辺の領域に配置されている請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記表示領域が矩形状を呈し、
前記第1の光センサと前記第2の光センサとが、前記表示領域の外縁を形成する四辺の一つに沿って配列されている請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記アクティブマトリクス基板に複数のアクティブ素子が形成され、
前記第1の光センサ及び前記第2の光センサの少なくとも一部の構成部材が、前記アクティブ素子の構成部材と同一のプロセスによって、前記アクティブマトリクス基板に形成されている請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2の光センサにおける前記アクティブマトリクス基板側の反対側に、遮光膜が形成されている請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1の検出回路と、第2の検出回路と、比較回路とを更に備え、
前記第1の検出回路は、前記第1の光センサが出力した信号を検出し、前記第1の光センサに入射した光の強度に応じた第1の電圧信号を出力し、
前記第2の検出回路は、前記第2の光センサが出力した信号を検出し、前記第2の光センサに入射した光の強度に応じた第2の電圧信号を出力し、
前記比較回路は、前記第1の電圧信号と前記第2の電圧信号との差分値に基づいて、当該液晶表示装置が前記外部の光の強度を特定するための信号を出力する請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
