PURPOSE:To reduce influence of water, acid, or alkali by making the surface of a superconductor of oxide type hydrophobic. CONSTITUTION:A superconductor of oxide type is formed in the specified formation according to the following general expression of composition: (M1)x(M2)y(M 3)zOw, where M1 is one or more of the elements B, A1, Ga, In, T1, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, while M2 is one or more of the elements Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Sn, Pb), and M3 is (Cu) and x, y, z, w are atomic mol fractions. The surface of this superconductor is made hydrophobic by a proper agent. This enables preparation of a superconductor of oxide type with high resistance against acid and alkali hydrolysis.
