Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold a frequency equal to the frequency of an input signal before the reference input signal has a fault by providing a gate signal generating circuit receiving an output signal of a comparator circuit and an output signal of a fault detection circuit and giving a gate signal to a latch circuit. CONSTITUTION:An output voltage VPC is compared with a control voltage Vc fed to a voltage control oscillating circuit 6 by a voltage comparator circuit 2, a counter circuit 3 starts increment in case of VPC<VC and decrement in case of VPC>=VC. If a fault of an input signal is detected by a fault detection circuit 8, an output logic level of a gate signal generating circuit 9 goes to '1' and a latch circuit 4 stores and holds the parallel digital signal given from the counter circuit 3 at its moment. When the reference input signal is recovered and the output of the counter circuit 3 and the output of the latch circuit 4 are equal to each other, the output level of the gate signal generating circuit 9 is inverted into '0' and the latch circuit 4 gives the output signal of the counter circuit 3 again to a D/A converter circuit 5.
