Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (X is -COO-, -OCO-, -CH2O- or -OCH2-; A is 4-20C alkyl or alkoxyl; R is 1-20C alkyl; l and m are 1 or 2; * is asymmetric carbon). EXAMPLE:(+)-p-Octyloxybenzoic acid 4'-(1-heptylcarbonyloxyethyl)-4-biphenylyl ester. USE:A liquid crystal material. PREPARATION:An optically active alcohol compound shown by formula II is reacted with an aliphatic carboxylic acid shown by the formula R-COOH, an acid anhydride and an acid halide thereof to give a compound shown by formula I.
