Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is 1-20C alkyl which may contain halogen; A is H, halogen, 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy; n is 1 or 2; *is asymmetric carbon). EXAMPLE:(+)-p-Benzyloxy-1-phenethyl alcohol propionic acid ester. USE:An intermediate for drugs and agricultural chemicals and one for organic electronic materials (especially liquid crystal compounds). PREPARATION:An optically active alcohol shown by formula II is reacted with an aliphatic carboxylic acid (e.g. acetic acid, propionic acid or butanoic acid) shown by the formula R-COOH or a derivative thereof to give a compound shown by formula I. The reaction, for example, is carried out in the presence or absence of a solvent such as THF, ethyl ether or acetone and in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. dimethylaminopyridine).
